The preview, odds, predictions, and tips for the Premier League round 22 Game, between Manchester City and Chelsea.
When: Sunday, January 15, 2022, 14:30 EET
Where: Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England
The rematch of the UEFA Champions League finals will take place on Sunday when Manchester City hosts Chelsea. The reigning champions of England and Europe promise a very tough fight because the stakes are high. If the Citizens win, they will pretty much put one hand on the trophy already now. If on the other side, Chelsea manages to snap three points from the hosts, we have a championship race.
Manchester City
The Citizens have been perfect in the past seven events, winning all of them, and displaying tremendous form. In four of those games, they would keep clean sheets, and in five, Guardiola’s machinery netted two or more goals. It is needless to say that each line of this team works perfectly.
Losing in the UCL finals left a massive scar on this unit, especially on Kevin De Bruyne, who was purposely injured in that event but Antonio Rudiger, which is why the Citizens have a very high motive to roll over Tuchel’s crew.
There won’t be too many absent players in City, with the only notable name ruled out being Riyad Mahrez, who is in Cameron at Africa Cup of Nations.
Chelsea
The Blues aren’t losing often, but they aren’t winning either. Tuchel’s team is without a defeat in the previous 10 games, but the problem is that they won only five during that stretch. The defense hasn’t been convincing as before, and we aren’t sure what the problem is.
Chelsea kept only three clean sheets in the last 13 contests. Just remember their stats from the previous year when Tuchel took over the wheel at Stamford. Their backline was impregnable.
The additional problem is that they won’t have the starting goalkeeper Mendy, who is Cameroon as well. He’s been one of the best players on the team all season long.
Man City: Ederson; Cancelo, Dias, Laporte, Zinchenko; Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne; Silva, Sterling, Jesus
Chelsea: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; Pulisic, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Lukaku, Werner.
The first game of the campaign ended with Man City’s narrow win, 0-1. The only scorer was Gabriel Jesus. The previous event was the UEFA Champions League finals, once Chelsea won 0-1 with Kai Havertz netting the only goal.
Chelsea has enormous problems with protecting their net, while on the other side, City is in one hell of a form in that aspect of the game. The hosts are massive favorites, and we expect them to win this event without any problems. For the moment, the odds are quite solid, and they need to be used.
