Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for the Manchester City vs Liverpool FA cup match.
Just one week after their matchup in the English Premier League, Manchester City and Liverpool meet once again, only this time at a neutral venue and in the FA Cup semis. Like seven days ago, the two sides will enter this clash with only one thing on their mind, and that is victory. Both teams want to redeem for a draw at Etihad, believing that they deserved all three points. So fasten your seatbelts, another chapter of nuclear football is ahead of us, with the main protagonist being two of the best teams in England, possibly the world.
Manchester City
This will be a very tough week for the Citizens, who already had two very tough and exhausting matchups before this one. After hosting Liverpool and visiting Atletico in Madrid, Guardiola’s guys now have to play against the Reds one more time. Though, that’s the destiny of great clubs.
Man City is without a loss for the last nine games, and in the majority of them, they managed to keep clean sheets. To be exact, in six events. Against Liverpool, that wasn’t possible simply because of the fantastic offensive potential of the guests from Anfield.
What we saw back then is that Joao Cancelo played a vital role in City’s attack, constantly making an extra-man on that side and harassing the Reds’ defenders. He attacked Salah and Trent-Arnold instead of the other way around.
Liverpool
The Reds’ amazing attack was once again in the middle of attention this week, as we saw how lethal it is even if there isn’t too much space available. After five straight wins, four of them without a goal allowed, they had to settle for one point at Etihad and walk back to Anfield with one point fewer than the Citizens.
We don’t need to tell you too much about Liverpool’s offensive potential. Signing Luis Diaz is a jackpot for Klopp and his unit, and the Colombian has been fantastic ever since debuting.
We expect to see him starting this event, probably instead of Jota or Salah depending on what will be Klopp’s tactics. We are sure that he wants to pressure Cancelo now and neutralize the Portuguese, so it is possible to see Salah going to the left side or in the middle to allow Diaz to fill in the position on the right-wing.
Manchester City: Ederson; Cancelo, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Foden, Sterling
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Jones; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
Seven of the last eight games between these two sides saw both teams to score, and five of the past six ended with four or more goals. The Citizens and the Reds already played twice this year, both times 2-2.
We don’t want to take too much of your time with some unnecessary analysis, but be straightforward here. Our pick would be over 2.5 goals. These teams have unreal offensive talent, and we should see lots of goals.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
