Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for West Ham vs. Manchester City at Premier League
West Ham hosts Manchester City at the London Stadium in the season opener. This is the game of the week and the one that closes the whole round. The FA deliberately picked it to be Sunday’s finale because it draws enormous attention among the English and the fans from across the globe. Regarding the game itself, the champions are the favorites, but we’ve seen the Hammers creating a lot of trouble for the Citizens in the near past.
West Ham
The Hammers didn’t thrill anyone with their preseason games and results, and may we add, that David Moyes has a lot of problems in his team. The players look deflated and tired, some even as if they don’t have a motive. The preseason period might be boring and dull for them, but that kind of behavior is unacceptable.
In seven friendly games, West Ham won only two and had four draws with one defeat. The problem is that they finished the period not triumphing in the past four. Due to all this, Moyes had to be aggressive on the market, landing Scamacca from Sassuolo, Nayef Aguerd from Rennais, and pushing hard for Filip Kostic from Eintracht.
We’ve noticed that moderate efficiency is the most frequent in West Ham’s games this summer and that five of those seven events have ended with 2 or 3 goals.
Manchester City
The Citizens didn’t start the year as expected, losing to Liverpool in the Community Shield game, 3-1. A loss is not the problem, but the fact that they couldn’t compete with the Reds, who had the initiative for the entire 90 minutes.
After beating Club America, 2-1, and Bayern Munich, 1-0 this came as a surprise, not only for the fans but the bookies as well, who were pretty much sure that the Citizens were going to win the trophy. However, from what we saw during those 90 minutes, Liverpool was far better.
Erling Haaland missed the impossible in the closing moments of the event, but that won’t hurt the young Norwegian’s morale. Contrary, it can only motivate him to be even better. He scored after only 12 minutes of play against Bayern.
West Ham United: Fabianski; Coufal, Johnson, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
The Hammers managed to create quite the trouble for the Citizens in the last few games at the London Stadium. The previous one ended 2-2, and the one in the 2021 EFL Cup saw the Hammers winning after the penalties. Prior to that, West Ham and City played 1-1, which makes the hosts unbeaten in the last three meetings at the London Stadium.
The Hammers aren’t in good shape, and we’ve noticed some signs of struggle in their game. Meanwhile, Man City is coming to win and to erase the loss against Liverpool. That’s why we bet on the guests’ victory in this event. Guardiola’s crew has a nice chance to use West Ham’s issues and earn three points.
Our verdict: Manchester City wins
