Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Australia vs. Denmark | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Australia and Denmark play for the knockout stage at the World Cup in Qatar. Both teams are in a position to reach the next round, and a win pretty much guarantees them the second spot in Group C. Tunisia also has chances, but they would need to beat France by a high margin to nullify this event, which isn’t very likely. So this is the grand finale for either unit and we’re expecting a fierce battle.
Australia
The Aussies have beaten Tunisia 1-0, with an early goal and a fantastic battle afterward. We’ve seen one highly motivated team keeping its focus and composure throughout all 90 minutes, not allowing the rivals to find the weak spot and exploit it.
Socceroos are a limited team, yet they were aware of their issues in this event. They should have solved the game earlier, but on a couple of occasions, there was no proper finish.
This team plays tough football without too many goals, and that was obvious against Tunisia. Four of the past five games ended with under 2.5 scores, and in all four events, we’ve seen exactly one goal, netted by the Aussies, who, on the other hand, kept clean sheets.
Denmark
The Danes showed more against France than in a goalless draw against Tunisia. We’ve seen them lose, 2-1, but overall, they had certain sequences in which we saw why this team stands as one of the best in Europe over the recent few years.
A 2-1 defeat left a bad impression, yet the performance, especially in the second 45 minutes, was encouraging. Only after an allowed goal did the Danes start playing.
As for the efficiency of the matches in which Denmark participates, the majority of the recent ones ended with moderate efficiency, meaning two or three goals. We’ve seen that in four of the past five games.
Australia: Ryan; Atkinson, Souttar, Rowles, Behich; Mooy; Leckie, Irvine, McGree, Goodwin; Duke
Denmark: Schmeichel; Andersen, Christensen, Kjaer; Kristensen, Hojbjerg, Eriksen, Maehle; Skov Olsen, Dolberg, Damsgaard
The two sides were in a group stage four years ago in Russia. Back then we saw a draw in this one, 1-1, which would be perfect for Socceroos now. Eriksen scored an opener after seven minutes, but Mile Jedinak tied the result from the penalty seven minutes before the half.
This will be a very tough game, with lots of physicalities. The Aussies will defend and wait for their chance to strike on a counter-attack, and Denmark won’t rush to score right away. That is why betting on under 2.5 goals is the best choice.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
