Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Teixeira vs. Hill at UFC 283
UFC 283 brings a bout between Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill, which will decide who takes home the UFC light heavyweight belt. The throne is vacated right now because of Jiri Prochazka’s shoulder injury, which is why the organization decided to organize a bout between two elite guys in the division. Magomed Ankalaev is out of the picture for some reason, but nevertheless, we think this bout will be spectacular.
Glover Teixeira
The veteran Brazilian was the champion before Prochazka dethroned him. Most oddly, the Czech managed to do that via rear-naked submission on the ground, which is Glover’s terrain. Teixeira is, without a doubt, the best grappler in the division, and somehow he managed to allow that to happen to himself.
A defeat against Prochazka was the first for Glover after six straight wins. During that streak, the Brazilian beat Karl Roberson, Ion Cutelaba, Nikita Krylov, Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and at last, Jan Blachowicz, against whom he won the title.
Glover has been the elite light heavyweight for more than ten years. Let us remind you that he fought for the title in 2014 against Jon Jones. His grappling is near perfection, and there aren’t too many guys who are able to escape from his steel grip. Teixeira’s score is 33 wins and eight losses, 18 triumphs via 18 KO, and 10 via submission.
Jamahal Hill
Hill is near his prime, at 31 years and fully developed body, and rapid improvement in all the areas of his fight. He is a guy who doesn’t hesitate to enter an open brawl in the center of the ring, and likes to eat a punch or few in order to reach the rival’s chin.
Hill had 13 bouts so far; 11 wins, one loss, and one no-contest. The sole defeat was against Paul Craig, who smashed Hill in June 2021, with TKO in the first round. However, after that, Hill bounced back, winning three bouts in a row, all via KO, against Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker, and the former title challenger, Thiago Santos.
We have to say that even though he endured a lot of damage, Hill didn’t face a proper challenge so far. That is, he hadn’t met an elite fighter in the division (Santos is long gone from the top of the division). His cardio is also questionable, as we saw him getting tired a lot.
We pick Glover because of his experience and much better endurance. Despite his loss to Prochazka, that bout was a war, and Glover went toe to toe with the Czech, while Hill never had such an experience in his career. Also, Hill easily lost the one bout against a dominant grappler (Craig), which is another reason for picking the Brazilian.
Our verdict: Glover Teixeira wins
