Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Djokovic vs. Paul at AU Open
Novak Djokovic looks very determined to win this Australian Open and get his revenge over all those who were rejoicing last year once he got removed from the competition. Alex De Minaur felt that on his skin. Novak has Tommy Paul across the court and is an absolute favorite for almost everybody. Though, Paul has nothing to lose here, and guys in such situations are the most dangerous ones.
Novak Djokovic
The Joker accelerated in the past two events, wiping the floor with his rivals. Novak struggles with injuries in the opening two events, concerning his fans, but for the moment, his hamstring is doing just fine. We’ve seen him rolling over Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals. Novak won that one 3-0, by sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
Two nights ago, he trashed De Minaur, leaving him five games in a bit more than two hours. Novak looked as if he was from another planet in both contests and significantly better than in the opening rounds.
Djokovic’s victims before these two guys were Carballes Baena, Couacaud, and Grigor Dimitrov. He lost one set against Coaucaud, and that’s the only set he dropped in this tournament. It was in the moments when he had issues with his hamstring.
Tommy Paul
The No.35 in the ATP standings had quite the breakthrough last year, and he wants to keep playing at the highest possible level. Reaching the semis at one Grand Slam is the best possible way of doing so.
Paul eliminated Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals, leaving his one set. He spent more than three hours playing, and we need to say that he already had challenging matches before this one, in which he had to play longer than planned. His rivals in Melbourne were Struff 3-0, Davidovich Fokina, 3-2, Brooksby, 3-0, and Bautista Agut, 3-1.
Paul had trouble converting break points against Shelby, doing that only three times in 15 attempts. His first serve was also mild, with only 66% of success.
These two guys haven’t met so far.
Nole is a massive favorite, and we believe that Paul won’t stand a chance against the nine-time champ here in Melbourne. Djokovic is improving as time passes by, and we think that the Serb will win this clash in straight sets.
Our verdict: Djokovic wins
