Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Manchester City vs. Newcastle at EPL
The Citizens continue their challenging and exciting chase for Arsenal and the top spot in the English Premier League with a clash against Newcastle. On the other hand, the Magpies lost the chance to win the English Football League Cup last weekend against Manchester United, and are slowly losing their grip on one of the top four places in the Premiership. They need to wake up as soon as possible; otherwise, Eddie Howe and the boys won’t play in the UEFA Champions League next year.
Manchester City
The Citizens didn’t lose in the previous five games, posting three wins and two draws. Following a disappointing 1-1 against Forest in Nottingham, they played in Leipzig against RB, ending that event with the same result. Though, Pep Guardiola woke up his guys, who then crushed Bournemouth 1-4.
An interesting piece of data is that Man City conceded in each of its last six games, which suggests there are some glitches in the back like. This has been a problem for quite some time, and Guardiola still didn’t solve them.
City won the previous five games at home and played eight in a row without a loss, posting seven triumphs during that span and one draw.
Newcastle
The Magpies had a chance to win a trophy after half a century and failed to do so. The finals against Manchester United ended 0-2 for the Red Devils, and we may say that it came at the worst possible moment for Eddie Howe and the boys.
That was only because Newcaslte’s form significantly dropped compared to the previous part of the campaign. A thinner roster is the main problem here because Howe doesn’t really have too many options on his bench.
Right now, Newcastle is without a victory in the previous four games, having two draws before back-to-back losses in which they couldn’t score a goal.
Manchester City: Ortega; Lewis, Dias, Ake, Gomez; Silva, Phillips, Gundogan; Mahrez, Alvarez, Foden
Newcastle: Karius; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Saint-Maximin
The first game had fireworks of goals, ending 3-3. The past four between these two units also had four or more goals, and City won in each one. Last season we saw the Citizens massacring this rival, 5-0 at home and 0-4 on the road.
We expect to see City decisive and confident in this event and them beating the rivals in poor form. The title is at stake and demoralized and shaken Newcastle shouldn’t be a problem.
Our verdict: Manchester City wins
