Two prominent names of the UFC featherweight category meet this Saturday, with the former champion, Max Holloway, facing the surging Arnold Allen. Holloway lost his trilogy against Alexander Volkanovski and will now have to defend his reputation against guys like Allen. Meanwhile, Almighty, as the fans call him, looks for a chance to attack the title, and right now, Allen is one step away from it. If he beats Holloway by any chance, there is no doubt that the Englishman is the next in line.

Max Holloway vs. Arnold Allen Preview

Max Holloway

Three losses against Volkanovski are something that will mark Holloway’s career forever. Yes, the second one was controversial, and the Blessed didn’t deserve to lose that bout, but the most recent one was very convincing, as Volk ripped apart Max in various ways.

That was Holloway’s seventh defeat in career, the first following back-to-back wins over Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez, whom he confidently defeated via unanimous decisions. As said, his legacy will be endangered if he starts to lose now, so beating guys like Arnold is super important for Holloway.

The Blessed is one of the best boxers in the UFC, and his chin is incredibly strong. There aren’t too many guys in the organization who can eat punches like the former champ can, and we saw that in the past. It is a pity he isn’t a bit more versatile and better on the mat. On the other hand, he is much more spectacular for watching when he hurts the rivals with his hands. He beat names like Jose Aldo twice, Anthony Pettis, Brian Ortega, Frankie Edgar etc.

Arnold Allen

Englishman’s record says everything – 19 victories and one defeat. All that with 29 years, with his peak at the very beginning. His last loss was in 2014, and after that, this guy has constantly improved, reaching the elite of the UFC featherweight division.

Dana White and the UFC didn’t want to burn out this guy but gradually pushed him through the ranks, and we didn’t see him that often in the octagon until fully developing his body. Since 2020, Allen beat Nik Lentz, Sodiq Yusuff, and most recently, Dan Hooker and Calvin Kattar, two high-caliber rivals, both via TKOs.

Allen is a smart and patient fighter who knows how to collect points on the scorecards. His leg kicks are devastating, and he knows when to use them. On the flip side, Allen’s wrestling is quite solid, but he sometimes isn’t using a shred of his knowledge on the mat.

Holloway vs. Allen Predictions

The only reason why we picked Allen, who is an underdog, is his wrestling and incredible improvement as time goes by. He literally evolves after each fight and goes one level higher, and something tells us that the Almighty will use his grappling to beat the Blessed.
