Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Chelsea vs. Real Madrid at UCL
Frank Lampard couldn’t do much for the Blues’ morale and performances, and Chelsea lost in Madrid to Real last week. Los Blancos routinely defeated the rivals, 2-0, who didn’t have a single period in which they looked competitive against the Spaniards. There is a lot of work ahead of Lampard and the crew, who needs to stabilize in the Premiership and also, try to make a sensation on Tuesday and eliminate the reigning European champs.
Chelsea
A defeat in Madrid was the fifth consecutive event in which this unit couldn’t win, losing three of them in the previous four contests. Again, the Blues’ biggest problem is offense, with them failing to score in the last four meetings.
Given how much this unit spent during the transfer windows, this is a catastrophe, and nobody can justify this chaos in Chelsea. The new American owners definitely didn’t start well in London and we will see how their tenure in London develops.
Since late December, just one game Chelsea played at home saw both teams netting, and the same goes for events with over 2.5 hits.
Real Madrid
Even though they show signs of demotivation and apathy occasionally, Real is still among the best teams in Europe, if not the most powerful one. They would routinely beat Chelsea without losing energy nor, having some emotional burnout.
That’s all because of Carlo Ancelotti, the cunning veteran whose legacy in the head coaching niche is the most extensive. The Italian perfectly knows when to calm down his players and when to push them hard in order to reach the goal.
Real has had two massive wins on the road in the past several weeks. One was at Anfield, 2-5 against Liverpool, and the other in Barcelona, where they humiliated Blaugrana 0-4 at Camp Nou, eliminating them from the Copa del Rey semis.
Chelsea: Kepa; Fofana, Koulibaly, Silva; James, Kovacic, Fernandez, Kante; Sterling, Havertz, Felix
Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Alaba; Modric, Camavinga, Kroos; Valverde, Benzema, Vinicius Jr
These teams met in the past two Champions League editions, both times in the semis. In 2021, Chelsea was better, 1-1 in Madrid, 2-0 at home; the following year, Real had its revenge, 1-3 in London and 2-3 in Madrid. Both units went on to win the UCL trophy afterward.
There is little chance for the hosts to eliminate Real, furthermore, we think that the Los Blancos aren’t going to lose this event but confirm their trip to the finals with another victory over the struggling rivals. The difference in quality is way too big.
Our verdict: Real Madrid wins
