The Phoenix Suns must chase a 2-0 lead against the Denver Nuggets in the Westen Conference semifinals. They faced a one-game deficit in the opening round against the Clippers yet came back to win four in a row. The way they played the first two events in Colorado, that will be extremely hard, though, the series moves to Arizona, where the Suns have the crowd behind them.

Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets Preview

Phoenix Suns

The Suns are 0-13 in franchise history when trailing 0-2 in the playoff series. It’s something that unease their fans, but the tradition is there to be broken. After the opening game, in which they weren’t competitive, the Suns were leveled with the Nuggets until the last period in the second contest.

Yet, they didn’t have a solution to stop Jokic who had another monstrous game. But besides that, Phoenix had an awful shooting percentage for three, hitting only six downtown hits in 31 attempts. Kevin Durant was 2-for-12 for three.

Also, the Suns weren’t attacking the rim that much and had only five free throws, which is something we can’t remember when it happened last time. On top of everything, Chris Paul left the game due to a groin injury.

Denver Nuggets

Jokic became one of few players with 20+ points, 15+ boards and 5+ assists in three straight playoff games. In the second contest against the Suns, the two-time NBA MVP had 39 points, 16 boards, and five dimes, and he demolished the rivals in every single aspect of play.

Unlike Game 1, Jamal Murray was terrible, with only 10 points and all nine shots from downtown missed. He did assist eight times, but overall he disappointed a lot. The same could be said for Michael Porter Jr, who had only five points.

Denver also had poor three-point shooting, 7-for-27, but on the other side, their fantastic defense covered all that. A 97-87 win is an ugly one, but it showed that the Nuggets make stops despite what everyone thinks.

Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets Predictions

There are still some uncertainties with Chris Paul and his injury. Over the past few years, it has become a tradition to see him picking up injuries in the playoffs. According to the sources from Phoenix, there is enough time for him to recover and be healthy until Saturday, so we will count him as available. The Suns are ferocious at home, and we expect to see them winning Game 3. Denver failed to win at the Footprint Center for quite a while, and that streak continues on Saturday.
