Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for AC Milan vs. Inter Milan at UEFA Champions League
One of the biggest games in the world is the Milan derby, and even if it weren’t the UEFA Champions League semifinals, this clash would be a magnet for the media and fans. Rossoneri and Nerazzurri could have done better in Serie A but that won’t matter if they reach the European throne. These two units are playing good football in Europe, and even though some might think that luck smiled upon them, it isn’t all about that.
AC Milan
Rossoneri have yet to lose for the past eight games, but during that stretch, Stefano Pioli’s unit had only three wins. Furthermore, they have won one in the previous five contests, getting into quite a nasty situation in Serie A and the top-four race.
When Milan plays, there aren’t too many goals, with the past seven under 2.5 hits, and that’s mostly because Pioli decided to use an ultraconservative style of play in the remaining few weeks. Though, as said, the results in the domestic championship aren’t that good.
There will be no home-court edge in this one, Milan and Inter share the same stadium. Still, we will run over the recent results they post at San Siro. Milan has five wins and three draws in the previous eight contests here.
Inter Milan
Nerazzurri have been rather quiet this year but still managed to reach the Coppa Italia finals and the semis of the UEFA Champions League. Simone Inzaghi has been under heavy pressure since the New Year, but now, the younger of the Inzaghi brothers can erase all that with at least one trophy.
Inter’s form is on the ascend, with the team posting four straight victories, netting 13 goals combined in all of them. Romelu Lukaku’s improvement is something encouraging for this crew, but that won’t be enough to reach the Champions League finals.
Nerazzurri’s last three events at home were nothing short of massive derbies. They met with Benfica, 3-3, Juve, 1-0, and beat Lazio in the most recent appearance in Milan, 3-1.
AC Milan: Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Kalulu, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud
Inter Milan: Onana; Darmian, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Martinez, Lukaku
Inter defeated Milan in the previous two meetings, in Serie A in February, 1-0, and in the Super Cup in January, 3-0. The first meeting of the year was way back in August, and AC Milan ended up on the winning side, 3-2.
This will be a hard derby between two ultra-defensive Italian sides who won’t make the first move. That’s why we pick low efficiency.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
