Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Carlos Alcaraz vs. Novak Djokovic at ATP French Open
The final before the final. That is what many say about this contest, with the world No.1 and the 22-time Grand Slam winner clashing in the chase for glory. The new dog on the block, Carlos Alcaraz, who bids to become the next ruler of this sport, meets with the all-time GOAT, Novak Djokovic, who is on his path to heaven. Novak needs one more Grand Slam title to become the undisputed king of this sport, and he wants to win it in Paris. Alcaraz is the favorite against the veteran, but who can guarantee anything to the young Spaniard?
Alcaraz
The Spaniard is the most dominant player on clay surfaces at the moment, with him becoming the next in line of magnificent players from this country that ruled on the red turf. Alcaraz exploded during the previous year and managed to get to the top of the ATP standings, thanks to his form and incredibly odd rules that applied last season.
Alcaraz was impressive in Paris, and his most recent contest, which was against Stefanos Tsitsipas, sent a clear message to all the other rivals. Alcaraz won in straight sets, allowing the Greek to win three games in the opening two sets.
So far, he has lost only one set in the tournament, beating Cobollo, Daniel, Shapovalov, and Musetti before Tsitsipas. Now, let us remind you that Tsitsipas played in the finals here and that he couldn’t do anything against the youngster from Spain.
Djokovic
Novak also lost a set, and in that aspect, he is better than Carlos, but his rivals weren’t as tough as Alcaraz’s. Djokovic beat Kovacevic, Fuscovics, Davidovich-Fokin, Varilla, and finally, Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals. The Serb endured four tie-breaks, and he won all of them.
It is safe to say that this isn’t the best tennis Djokovic has played on clay, but at the moment, he is very confident and looks pretty well on the court. In some situations, he plays a bit more recklessly than usual, and struggles to find consistency, which is a consequence of his rust due to the fewer matches played before the tournament.
Novak is in some sort of a war with the crowd, and he often tends to get into an argument with the stands, which takes a lot of his focus. Of course, the Serb is sometimes fueled with negative comments, and it seems he asks for some dispute to get extra energy.
We aren’t going to lie to you, our sympathies are with Novak, but at this moment, he can’t compete with Alcaraz on the clay. That No.23 will have to wait for Wimbledon because Alcaraz looks relentless and incredibly powerful on clay.
Our verdict: Alcaraz wins
