Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Marketa Vondrousova vs. Ons Jabeur at Wimbledon
A highly unexpected final in the ladies’ part of the Wimbledon draw is ahead of us. On one side, we have last year’s runner-up, Ons Jabeur, while on the other stands the unseeded player from the Czech Republic, Marketa Vondrousova. Both these girls have reached at least one finals of one Grand Slam tournament before but never lifted the trophy. Jabeur is the favorite, but seeing Vondrousova play, the Morrocan will have a tough time beating the rival.
Marketa Vondrousova
The Czech player indicated her quality by reaching the Roland Garros finals back in 2019, where she lost to Ashleigh Barty, getting only four games. Since then, her career has had various ups and downs, which culminated with surgery in 2022, that forced her to skip the majority of the season.
However, she is back now, ready to show everyone she still has what it takes to become a Grand Slam champ. Vondrousova became the first unseeded player to reach the Wimbledon finals in the ladies competition. Her path to the finals was very hard, meeting seeded players in four of five events, among others, Kudermetova, Vekic, Bouzkova, Pegula, and at last, Elina Svitolina in the semis, whom she wiped out in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Vondrousova is an aggressive player, and no wonder why she won 47% of points on her return. It is similar to breakpoints converted, where she stands at 43%.
Ons Jabeur
The Moroccan star is in her third Grand Slam finals, losing here last year to Elena Rybakina and in New York a couple of months later to Iga Swiatek. For a long time, Jabeur was close to clinching a Grand Slam title, and she has another opportunity to do so.
She also had a very nasty draw. After an easy two rivals in the opening two rounds, Frech and Bai, Jabeur defeated Andreescu, then the two-time winner here, Petra Kvitova, before having the toughest challenge in Aryna Sabalenka in the semis.
She is an all-around player with high intelligence. Jabeur often likes to try to hit difficult shots, which often disturb the rivals across the net. The Moroccan held more than 90% of her service games in London, which is another proof of her excellent form.
The current results in direct encounters are 3-3, yet with the note that Vondrousova defeated Jabeur in the past two events, both this year. The first was at the Australian Open in the second round, and the most recent at the Indian Wells.
Even though the Czech player comes into this one with a swing from the previous two events, our money is on Jabeur. She likes playing on the grass, and besides that, the fact that she kept her serve here in London better than the rival forces us to bet on her victory.
Our verdict: Jabeur wins
