Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Atletico Madrid vs. Sevilla at Club Friendlies
Both Atletico and Sevilla have a busy schedule. This will be their third respective meeting in the span of seven days, but that is normal when you enter the finish of the preseason preparations. Both teams have a clear plan ahead of the upcoming situation: to reach the Champions League place in La Liga and, if possible, get one trophy.
Atletico Madrid
The Mattress Makers have been playing in Asia and then had to travel to Mexico to meet Sociedad, before reaching San Francisco for this occasion. A very challenging time of the year for Diego Simeone’s boys, but they need to toughen up before to real deal begins.
Atletico showed its capabilities against Manchester City. They defeated the reigning European champions 2-1 in Asia. We’ve seen them withstanding the pressure applied by the Citizens in the opening 45 minutes and responding in the second half.
A quick blitz, during which Depay and Carrasco netted was enough for them to take the win here and create a significant boost before other events. By the way, counting the past season, this is the ninth game in the previous 10 in which we saw three or more goals.
Sevilla
Rojoblancos’ summer has been busy, and there aren’t too many teams that played more games since the start of the preseason. Counting in the most recent one against their hated rivals, Betis, we’ve seen this team seven times so far.
Jose Luis Mendilibar’s boys even won a trophy, a UEFA CONMEBOL challenge, as they defeated the winners of the Copa Sudamericana, Independiente del Valle. They allowed an early goal, yet leveled in the stoppage time, later on beating the Argentinians on penalties.
Since Medilibar took over the team, Sevilla’s style of play drastically changed, and they became offensive-minded. That’s why their games bring more goals than before, and for instance, all but one during this preseason has been with both teams scoring.
Atletico Madrid: Grbic; Azpilicueta, Savic, Soyuncu, Galan; Saul, De Paul, Koke, Lino; Griezmann, Morata
Sevilla: Dmitrovic; Navas, Rekik, Bade, Acuna; Delaney, Jordan, Rakitic; Lamela, Mir, El-Nesyri
Sevilla suffered a humiliating loss last year at Wanda Metropolitan, 6-1. Earlier that season, Atletico was better than the Rojoblancos at Pizjuan as well, 0-2.
These two sides play good, attractive and efficient football. So, there is no reason not to try over 2.5 goals, as their previous events mostly saw high efficiency, with scores on both ends of the pitch. Atletico might be more tired, but be sure that won’t harm their productivity, due to a very good depth chart.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
