Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United at English Premier League
The Villains aren’t in the shadows anymore, and for many, they are a true title contender right now. Unai Emery’s crew looks compact, strong and mentally stable, so their results aren’t surprising. On the other side is Sheffield, who is probably the worst team in the league this year. The Blades have been in the relegation zone since the year began and simply can’t move up.
Aston Villa
Villa has not lost for the last nine games across all competitions, winning seven and recording two draws. During this stretch, we’ve seen them defeat pretty much all the top title contenders, like Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
An especially impressive victory was against Manchester City, whom this unit smashed and outplayed in every single aspect of the game. We haven’t seen the Treble winners so inferior in the last couple of years.
Villa is perfect at home, having eight victories in eight Premiership meetings. Their goal difference is 25-5, and is the most efficient team in front of own crowd in the whole of England.
Sheffield United
Opposite Villa, Sheffield is the worst crew on the road in the EPL, with only one point after seven outings. The Blades lost seven, and had one tie, with four goals scored and 22 allowed, making them the worst in both categories.
Many are already now saying that the team from Bramall won’t survive this year in the Premiership, and that’s something perfectly logical. They don’t have any notable players on their roster, which is, by the way, very thin. So United’s lack of creativity on the midfield isn’t odd, nor their problems in the attack.
We’ve seen them lose three of the past four away games, with one draw. Those losses were with a combined goal difference of 0-12, which says enough about Sheffield’s overall quality of play.
Aston Villa: Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Moreno; Cash, Kamara, Ramsey, McGinn; Diaby, Watkins
Sheffield United: Foderingham; Baldock, Ahmedhodzic, Trusty, Lowe; McAtee, Norwood, Souza, Hamer, Archer; McBurnie

The two sides met in the 2020/21 season, and on both occasions, the hosts managed to squeeze out a minimal victory, 1-0. The past four meetings have ended with just one side netting and under 2.5 hits.
The Villains are ferocious at home and they are our pick to win this matchup. Yet, the odds on that are low, and to make them higher and more profitable, we would bet on the hosts to beat the Blades and also, cover a -1.5-goal spread, which is very realistic knowing the way they play in front of own fans. We don’t usually do this, but in this case, this is necessary.
Our verdict: Aston Villa -1.5
