Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for AC Milan vs. Inter Milan at Serie A
Derby della Madonnina features the first-placed Inter and the second-placed Milan, yet the difference between these two rivals is 14 points, with Inter being one win away from securing the title. And Nerazzurri wants to get it against Milan to complete one very dominant year in the domestic championship. AC Milan, of course, won’t allow that, and aims to give its best to stop the dominant opponents.
AC Milan
Rossoneri had to go to Rome to meet Roma in the UEFA Europa League before coming back and preparing for this event. Certainly, Stefano Pioli isn’t fully focused on this event due to that, but the motive to beat Inter won’t lack.
Milan could have done better against Sassuolo last weekend when they played only 3-3 on the road. Since losing to Monza, the team from San Siro has been without a failure in the Serie A contests, posting five wins and two ties.
They were excellent at home until losing to Roma in the Europa League. Milan had a streak of nine games without a loss, winning seven of them and posting only two ties.
Inter Milan
Simone Inzaghi’s unit had high hopes in the UEFA Champions League. They were extremely dominant in Serie A, and all their focus was on the UCL, but the loss to Atletico Madrid crushed their hopes of attacking the continental throne. The team deflated after that, and so were the fans.
But even so, Nerazzurri didn’t slow down, recording two ties and wins following the exit from the Champions League. They played 1-1 against Napoli, then had back-to-back victories against Empoli, 2-0, and Udinese, 1-2, before 2-2 vs. Cagliari at home.
Four games before the most recent were with moderate efficiency, meaning 2 or 3 goals. In six of the latest ten games across all the competitions, Inter scored two or more times.
AC Milan: Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Gabbia, Hernandez; Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud
Inter Milan: Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Arnautovic, Thuram
The only game between these units during the current campaign was back in September when Inter humiliated Rossoneri. It was 5-1 for Inzaghi’s unit, with Mkhitaryan netting a brace and Thuram, Calhanoglu, and Frattesi adding a goal each. On the other side, Leao was the sole scorer for AC Milan.
The motives here aren’t linked with the current situation in the standings but are more of a reputational character. Therefore, we don’t expect some closed and tough game but a more open and dashing event. That’s why we pick over 2.5 goals as the primary pick for Monday’s derby.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
