Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Dortmund vs. PSG at UEFA Champions League
Borussia is a surprise in the UEFA Champions League semis. That’s because nobody saw the Millionaires going this far in the most prominent European club competition. Meanwhile, PSG was projected at this stage, and for many, the Saints were one of the top favorites even before the campaign started. The guests are slight favorites, but like so many times this year, Dortmund won’t mind about that.
Dortmund
The Millionaires have a bit of a complicated situation because they have to battle for the fourth spot in the Bundesliga and next year’s Champions League ticket. So, there isn’t an option for them to rest players or at least have a less intense approach during their games.
Coming into the previous weekend, Borussia had five wins, three ties, and two draws at Signal Iduna Park. Overall, this isn’t such an impressive record, but we can say that Sancho, Adeyemi and the boys rarely lose in front of own crowd.
Most of the events throughout that stretch were efficient, that is with three or more goals. To be precise, seven of them saw that. Meanwhile, the same number of games were with both teams netting as well.
PSG
Imagine how high the Saints’ confidence is following a win in Barcelona—and not just any win, but a 1-4 humiliation of one of Europe’s biggest teams. It’s no wonder they posted excellent results in the following matches.
They were better than Lyon, 4-1 at Parc des Princes, and Lorient, 1-4 on the road. Everything looks good in Paris now, which wasn’t the case following the first leg vs. Barca. Back then, we heard rumors about Mbappe’s departure and Enrique’s too, as well as many other speculations.
Four of PSG’s past five road games included both teams netting over 2.5 goals. Meanwhile, the Saints haven’t netted twice or more just once in the last ten outings.
Dortmund: Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Sabitzer, Can; Malen, Brandt, Adeyemi; Fullkrug
PSG: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Hernandez; Zaire-Emery, Ruiz, Vitinha; Dembele, Ramos, Mbappe
Borussia and PSG were in last year’s group stage, and the French unit had more success. It was 2-0 for the Saints in Paris, while the second event concluded without winners, 1-1. In 2020, these two clubs met in the Round of 16, and PSG was better again. The first leg in Dortmund saw the hosts’ 2-1 triumph, but the Saints managed to erase that and eliminate the Millionaires, beating them 2-0 in Paris.
With all due respect to Borussia and its players, we simply believe that PSG has more quality. Playing at Signal Iduna Park is a big plus for the hosts, but we saw the Saints stepping up in such situations. PSG’s biggest advantage over Borussia is the speed of the attack, as we noticed that the Millionaires are extremely vulnerable in that area. So our pick here is the guests to triumph.
Our verdict: PSG wins
