Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Borussia Dortmund vs. Real Madrid at UEFA Champions League
The Millionaires and Los Blancos close this year’s Champions League story. Two of the best teams in this competition clash at Wembley, the place where Borussia had its chance to win the trophy the last time they reached the finals in 2013. Meanwhile, Don Carlo Ancelotti got used to winning trophies with Real Madrid. This is his second trip to the finals with Los Blancos, and he hopes to win another trophy.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires are in the finals against all the odds. Nobody saw Reus and the guys reaching this far, particularly following a mediocre performance in the Round of 16 against PSV, when they barely eliminated the Dutch team. However, wins over Atletico Madrid, and particularly over PSG, proved the quality of this unit.
The Millionaires have been solid in recent times, winning four of the previous five games. In three we saw the back line holding on and not allowing a single goal, which is extremely important ahead of this meeting.
Dortmund has a fluid attack, with all the players contributing, not just one. In general, their games are more or less efficient, with seven in the last ten ending with over 2.5 hits.
Real Madrid
Real is on fire this year, and with only two losses throughout the entire campaign, they seem like the best team in Europe at the moment. Both of those defeats came at the hands of Atletico Madrid, and no other team on the continent defeated the most successful club in the history of the Champions League.
Ancelotti’s crew moved the foot of the gas in the last two events, posting ties against Villarreal on the road, 4-4, and Betis at home, 0-0. That was the third clean sheet in the past four meetings for the La Liga champs.
No need to explain their game here. Real has the best midfield in the world, with Bellingham, Modric, Kroos, etc. The majority of their goals are because of the midfield, not the attack.
Dortmund: Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Can, Sabitzer; Adeyemi, Brandt, Sancho; Füllkrug
Real Madrid: Courtois; Carvajal, Nacho, Rüdiger, Mendy; Valverde, Kroos, Camavinga; Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior
The most recent clashes between these units were in the 2017/18 Champions League group stage. Real was better on both occasions, winning 1-3 in Germany and 3-2 at home.
In general, they’ve met 14 times, with Real winning in six games, Borussia in three, and five concluding with a tie.
The better team in this one is Real. Borussia did reach the finals, and every team that does the exact needs to be respected and credited, yet we strongly believe that the Germans are way weaker than Los Blancos, whose atomic midfield will make a big difference here.
Our verdict: Real Madrid wins
