Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Spain vs. Germany at EURO 2024
Obviously, the clash between Spain and Germany will be the biggest in the 2024 EURO quarterfinals. These two units had some memorable clashes, such as the 2008 EURO finals, when Spain won. The Red Fury plays fantastic football, and even though Germany is a host, they are slight underdogs ahead of this event. Though, whatever happens here won’t be a surprise.
Spain
The Red Fury is furious right now, with them playing excellent football and having six straight victories. They’ve shown the best performances of all the teams so far, and that’s a consensus among all the reporters and pundits.
After not allowing a goal during the group stage and wins over Croatia, 3-0, Italy, 1-0, and Albania with the same result, Ivan de la Fuente’s crew allowed the first goal in the tournament against Georgia in the Round of 16. They fell behind early on, but after that went on to beat the Crusaders 4-1.
The second half of that event was a reminder of their capabilities, with near-perfect offense and fantastically synchronized functionality between all the lines.
Germany
Germany had plenty of luck against both Switzerland and Denmark. A late goal saved them against the Swiss unit, while VAR and a penalty against Denmark pushed them to the next stage. Overall, these pair of previous games weren’t satisfying for the fans.
Germany didn’t lose in the past eight games, posting two ties and six victories, each one with at least two goals netted. Die Mannschaft plays offensive football, but it’s less powerful than in the past when they grinded the rivals throughout all 90 minutes.
Now, a bit tougher group, which knows how to battle physically with the German midfield, presents a challenge for Nagelsmann’s boys. In the past, whichever team decided to compete with Die Mannschaft on that field was blown away.
Spain: Simon; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Pedri, Rodri, Ruiz; Yamal, Morata, Williams
Germany: Neuer; Kimmich, Schlotterbeck, Rudiger, Mittelstadt; Kroos, Andrich; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Havertz
Spain and Germany played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar during the group stage, and we saw no winners, 1-1. Previously, they had a clash in the UEFA Nations League, 1-1 in Germany and humiliating 6-0 in Spain, when Red Fury inflicted one of the worst defeats ever to the German national team.
Germany has certain issues. Spain doesn’t. When we compare these two teams and their performances at this EURO and prior, we have to say that the Red Fury looks like a much better team. That’s why we pick them to win here, and that’s our primary suggestion. Those who want to play it safe should take Spain to advance.
Our verdict: Spain wins
