Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Netherlands vs. Turkey at EURO 2024
The quarterfinal battle between the Netherlands and Turkey will close this stage of the 2024 EURO tournament. While Oranje didn’t have too much trouble against Romani, beating the rivals more or less with 70% of their power, Turkey had an exhausting matchup against Austria, where they had to save their skin in the last moments of the event before getting through. These two teams play interesting football overall, which is why we expect to see one memorable clash.
Netherlands
The way Oranje handled Romania needs to be credited. After a slow and pale opening 10 minutes of the game, Ronald Koeman’s boys took over the command on the field, not allowing the rivals to have the slightest possible chance of endangering their goal.
As stated earlier, the Netherlands plays interesting and, above all, efficient events. Only one in the last nine didn’t end with three or more goals, which is a testament to our claim.
It’s very important to add that they have four clean sheets in the recent six events, netting two or more goals in all but one encounter throughout that span. Their offense is very potent with Gakpo, Simmons, Depay and others.
Turkey
To be honest until yesterday, we haven’t seen anything special from Turkey. Even their win against Austria didn’t amaze us, with the Crescent Star boys defending throughout the entire matchup and not showing anything stunning.
The game opened well. They scored a goal in the first minute and added another one in the second half, with Austria pressing. After conceding, Vincenzo Montela’s boys parked a bus in front of their box and defended.
The group results were solid, yet the performance was nothing more than average. A win over Georgia was more or less deserved, while the one against the Czech Republic wasn’t because the official pushed the Turks big time. Yet there is one thing we need to credit them. Turkish national team battles like no other in the championship.
Netherlands: Verbruggen; Dumfries, De Vrij, Van Dijk, Ake; Reijnders, Schouten; Frimpong, Simons, Gakpo; Depay
Turkey: Gunok; Ayhan, Demiral, Bardakci; Kadioglu, Chalhanoglu, Yokuslu, Kahveci; Guler, Yildiz; Yilmaz
The last time these two units met was in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Turkey beat the Netherlands in the first game, 4-2, but Oranje got even with one massive triumph at home, 6-1.
Oranje is a better team and we don’t think that Turkey is going to endanger them in any aspect of the game. The Turks had plenty of luck so far, with the situation constantly going in their favor, but we saw that the Netherlands knows how to handle such teams, with them beating Romania in the previous round. Also, Oranje’s attack is brutal, and that’s something Turks won’t be able to solve.
Our verdict: Netherlands wins
