Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Barcelona vs. Real Madrid at Club Friendlies
El Clasico in the USA is one of the biggest sporting events on the American continent. Even though this isn’t a competitive match and is more of a test before the actual campaign begins, we can say there’s plenty of action and fire on the field. Last year, Barca demolished Real in Austin, Texas, but after that, Real swept Blaugrana in the next three events.
Barcelona
Blaugrana played 2-2 against Manchester City in its first big preseason test. Hansi Flick’s boys would beat the Citizens after the penalty shootout later on, getting the sweeter part of a tie.
They didn’t count on several top stars, most notably Lamin Yamal, but neither did City play with all of its starters. From what we saw, Barca’s mixed lineup was better on the field. It didn’t have the initiative as much as City’s, yet it was very rational and direct when needed.
Victor and Torre scored for Barca, putting their name in Flick’s notebook ahead of the remaining part of the test period. Plenty of youngsters are expected to get a chance in the USA because the German manager wants to see if he can count on some of them.
Real Madrid
Real had a tough challenge against AC Milan. Though, it’s still early on to judge anything and make any evaluations, particulary because many first-team players aren’t even with the team.
However, three superstars are joining the team for El Clasico: Vinicis, Militao, and Rodrygo. With Modric, Guler, and Courtois already present, this guarantees one hell of a battle at the MetLife Stadium.
The likes of Mbappe, Bellingham, Carvajal, and others won’t be included, and it is expected that the majority of these players will skip the American tour, all in order to recover from the previous EURO.
Barcelona: Ter Stegen, Fort, Christensen, Lenglet, Martin; Gundogan, Romeu; Gun, Torre, Roque; Lewandowski
Real Madrid: Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Rudiger, Garcia; Ceballos, Modric, Guler; Diaz, Endrick, Vinicius
El Clasico is maybe the biggest rivalry in the world, and this will be the 300th match, counting the ones that were friendly. Real has 111 victories, while Barcelona has 124, with 64 ending without winners. However, if we look only at the competitive events, Real has an edge, 105-100. Blaugrana was better than Los Blancos on the US tour last year, but after that suffered three losses in a row.
Real’s star power is a bit bigger than Barca’s, but Blaugrana’s youngsters have a much bigger motive to play against Los Blancos and prove themselves to the new head coach. We won’t bet on the final result but on the total number of goals, which would be over 2.5.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
