Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Liverpool vs. Brentford at English Premier League
Both the Reds and the Bees were successful last weekend, posting wins and taking three points to open the new season. The fans should enjoy this affair because both teams like playing open and fast football, with plenty of chances, emphasizing offense all the time. We’ve seen efficient clashes between Liverpool and Brentford in the past, with the Reds having far more success. Though, the tradition doesn’t always have to repeat itself.
Liverpool
The Reds had no trouble against Ipswich, winning 0-2 after one pretty rational performance. They didn’t push too hard against the newly promoted side but simply waited for their chance to strike and, after doing so, effectively closed the match, not allowing the hosts to have the slightest chance of coming back.
When including the games during preseason, Liverpool still hasn’t lost since Arne Slot took command. They had six meetings, winning five and posting a single tie against Las Palmas, 0-0. Other than that, the Reds beat Sevilla, Manchester United, Arsenal, Betis and now Ipswich.
For the moment, Slot didn’t change too much in the lineup and the overall philosophy of play, but we’ll see how he evolves throughout the season.
Brentford
The Bees had a tough challenge at home against Crystal Palace on the opening day, but they beat the Eagles 2-0, taking all three points. Their playstyle remained the same, pushing hard upfront, even at the cost of overexposing the defense.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that in all six of their games since the start of the training camp (including the one vs. Palace), both teams scored. The Bees have been playing like that since entering the Premier League.
They don’t know how to defend like some other teams, which is the reason neutral fans love Brentford. Sometimes, this gives results, and sometimes it doesn’t, but as long as they stay in the Premiership, we can say it works just fine.
Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz
Brentford: Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen; Mbeumo, Toney, Wissa
The Reds won both games last season. First was at Anfield where they beat the Bees 3-0, and the second was in Brentford, 1-4. Mo Salah scored three of those seven goals.
Liverpool is the favorite whenever playing at home, regardless of the rivals. It’s something Klopp established and we’ve seen some impressive streaks at Anfield. Slot is still adapting to the new environment, but even so, he has a much better team than Brentford, and we expect him to lead the Reds to a win without any problems.
Our verdict: Liverpool -1.5
