Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Belgium vs. Italy at Nations League
The battle between Belgium and Italy can and will have a massive impact on the final standings of Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League A. The Italians are first there, France second and Belgium third, with an imperative to win in the remaining two events to secure one of the top two places.
Belgium
The Belgian unit is not in a good position here, with them having only four points in four meetings. They have five fewer than the French squad and six compared to Italy.
Furthermore, the Belgians have yet to win in the last three contests, losing twice and posting one tie. The Devils’ defense was appalling, allowing two goals in each of those meetings.
The fact that they lost to France at home in their most recent appearance on Belgian soil proves that this team no longer has a home-court edge, which wasn’t the case in the past. De Bryne is out, and with him unavailable, this team will have even more problems than usual.
Italy
The Italian unit didn’t lose in four of its previous games. They had three wins and a tie during this solid stretch, and that’s the reason why we see the 2020 EURO champs topping this group.
We need to say here that, unlike before, Italy’s matches are highly interesting and include plenty of goals. All of those four mentioned events are with over 2.5 hits on both ends of the field. Nothing like Italy in the past when they had 80% of their contests ending with under 2.5 hits per game.
Also, the Italian attack has been doing an excellent job since the 2024 EURO ended, netting two goals in each of the appearances. So we can start talking here about a new Italy with a new mindset and mentality.
Belgium: Casteels; Castagne, Faes, Debast, Theate; Mangala, Tielemans; Lukebakio, Trossard, Doku; Openda
Italy: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bastoni, Calafiori; Bellanova, Barella, Ricci, Tonali, Dimarco; Raspadori; Retegui
The first match between these two nations was on October 10, when Italy and Belgium split points, 2-2. Previously, we saw the Italians beating the Devils on three straight occasions from 2016 until 2021. By the way, Azzurri netted twice or more in three of these contests.
This should be an interesting meeting because both teams play open and attractive football. The difference is that Italy has better results and knows how to control the situation on the field, unlike the Devils. We will pick over 2.5 goals, with the odds being quite solid and tempting. After looking at these teams’ recent games, high efficiency is expected to occur in Brussels.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
