Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill at UFC 300
The headliner of the epic UFC 300 will decide the UFC light heavyweight title as champion Alex Pereira clashes with Jamahal Hill, the guy who held the belt before him. Hill had to vacate the title due to his Achilles tendon injury, and that’s when Pereier took over the throne with a win over Prochazka. The American is ready to take on this challenge, with his recovery going according to the plan. However, Pereira has different intentions.
Alex Pereira
The Poatan was dominant against Jiri Prochazka, whom he knocked out in the second round at UFC 295, when he took the belt. It was a fight for the title, and even though he didn’t shine until the KO, the Brazilian ended up on the winning side.
Previously, he won via split decision against Jan Blachowicz on his light heavyweight debut, which was a controversial call at the time. Many believe that he didn’t defeat the Pole.
Pereira held the middleweight title, earning the same at the UFC 281, when he KOd Israel Adesanya. The Last Stylebender avenged at the UFC 287, beating his rival in the same way and sending him to the upper division.
Jamahal Hill
The American had a steady climb to the top, as he began to build his name from scratch. He has 12 MMA wins in 14 appearances, with one no-contest and one loss, which was against Paul Craig long ago.
Hil lost to the Scot in 2021 at the UFC 263 but went on to win four in a row ever since and even hold the belt. He was better than Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker, and Thiago Santos, all via KO, before beating Glover Teixeira via unanimous decision at the UFC 283 when he won the title.
This guy is a vicious boxer, a bit one-dimensional, and most of his action takes place in stand-up. Hill likes to push forward and pressure his rivals with constant nagging punches, and once he lands a clean shot, that’s usually when the fight ends.
Pereira looks like a more versatile fighter here, though he might have problems with Hill’s size. Their reaches and physique are more or less the same, but after the weigh-in, we are pretty sure that the American is going to have more pounds than Pereira. Still, we are backing up the Brazilian to win due to his leg kicks and a tactical approach, which seems more thorough than Hill’s.
Our verdict: Alex Pereira wins
