The Gunners and the Red Devils have quite a history, especially throughout the 90s and the 2000s when they battled for the English Premier League titles. That time is way past, and today they aren’t that relevant. The Gunners haven’t lost so far this year, but their most recent performance made the fans worried. They managed to get only one point from the game against Fulham, which saw a 2-2 draw. Arsenal was down early on, and even though the Gunners came back to flip the score, we saw them again falling in the late stage of the event.

This time, it wasn’t like against Nottingham, where they withstood the rivals’ pressure. Fulham shocked the Emirates and snapped a point. 

This is the third time in the previous four events (counting the Community Shield) that the Gunners both scored and conceded. Jurrien Timber’s injury is a huge blow for Arteta, and that’s already obvious. 

Manchester United

The Red Devils were in the same situation as the Gunners, and even worse. They were down 0-2 against Forest but eventually won at Trafford, 3-2, preventing what looked to be a catastrophe.

After a very pale display against Wolves at home and a 1-0 victory, United’s shaky form continued in London, where they lost to Tottenham 2-0. Erik Ten Hag received very negative feedback from the crowd, and it looked as if the Dutch head coach could be under even more pressure after the game against Forest.

Though his team saved him from another unpleasant press conference. However, doubts about Manchester United’s qualities are still present, and this game will give us an answer whether they are justified or not.
