Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Aston Villa vs. Arsenal at English Premier League
Aston Villa tripped Arsenal during the title race last year, and that was Unai Emery’s payback to the management and the team that fired him years earlier. We don’t need to mention how big a deal this match is for both sides, particularly because of the history mentioned. Also, each unit took three points in last week’s clashes and is ready to continue at the same pace.
Aston Villa
The Villains defeated West Ham in London, 1-2, indicating excellent form even though it’s the first round of the campaign. Onana and Duran scored for the guests, who were solid in this one, against the Hammers, who also played a good game.
There haven’t been too many changes in Aston Villa’s roster this summer. Diaby left for Saudi Arabia, but Onana, Dobbin, Maatsen, and several other players landed, expanding Villa’s depth chart to new heights.
Villa’s style of play remained the same. They want to keep the ball in their feet and impose the tempo of play. They love to open and attack, but not at all costs. Even though their strikers weren’t particularly productive during the preseason, they are still very lethal upfront.
Arsenal
There wasn’t too much struggle against the Wolves, and the 2-0 win is far more confident than the result shows. The Gunners were better than the rivals from Molineux, and there wasn’t any doubt in their victory here.
Arteta’s boys have only lost one game since the start of the preseason, against Liverpool during the US tour. However, after that, they demolished Leverkusen, 4-1, in the friendly game and Lyon, 2-0, so their morale wasn’t hurt.
There’s no difference between Arsenal’s roster this year and the previous one. Though, Arteta introduced some new tactical thoughts and variations to diversify Arsenal’s game, and with the quality they already have, it’s no wonder why Gunners aim to win the title.
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Partey, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli
Aston Villa: Martinez; Maatsen, Konsa, Torres, Moreno; Bailey, Onana, Tielemans, McGinn; Rogers; Duran
Ollie Watkins ruined Arsenal’s title hopes when he scored the game-winner in the 87th minute of mid-April’s clash at Emirates. The guests ended up winning 0-2, which was the critical defeat for Arsenal’s title hope. Villa was better in the first clash, too, winning 1-0.
Aston Villa has been one of the best teams in England since Emery took over the wheel. We’ve seen them make problems for Arsenal in the past, but this time, we won’t bet on their victory here but take both teams to score. Villa’s preseason games showed problems in defense, while their attack has the power to hit the back of the Gunners’ net at least once.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
