Following a win at Meazza last Wednesday, Inter has the edge over Barcelona in the standings. It puts Blaugrana in a nasty position because they have to beat the big rivals and erase their tiebreaker. It’s already apparent that these two sides will decide which one takes the second spot because Bayern looks very confident. The Germans will probably keep the first place, or in the worst-case scenario, be second, yet surely in the knockout stage. This is potentially the game of the season for Barca and Inter, so we expect to see a spectacle at Camp Nou.

The five-time European champions didn’t have a flashy performance against Celta on Sunday night. They would take the lead early on, dominating throughout the opening half but slowing down as time went by before ultimately killing the pace and the tempo on the field.

It is highly interesting that their previous three events were all with just one goal. Also, the previous six matches saw just one side netting, and eight in nine ended the same way.

Blaugrana is almost perfect at home. After recording a draw at home in the opener against Rayo, 0-0, they won four in a row, with just one goal allowed throughout that interval, and 13 scored. Xavi’s crew is utilizing the home-field edge in the best possible way.

Inter Milan

Nerazzurri squeezed out a win against Sassuolo on the road, 1-2, and that was their second in a row after beating Barca at home on Wednesday, 1-0. We weren’t impressed with how Simone Inzaghi’s team played, because they had more luck than quality in either of these contests.

Inter has five wins and five losses in the past ten games, playing in waves, losing, and winning subsequently. The defense is problematic, often appearing sluggish and without composure, creating many problems for the Italian powerhouse.

After six road trips this year, Inter has three wins and three losses. In all but the game in Plzen, Samir Handanovic couldn’t protect his net, and the same event is the only one with fewer than three goals.
