Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for the Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Bundesliga match.
Der Klassiker, or the game between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, is the biggest derby in German football. This year it might put an end to the title race in Bundesliga. If Bayern wins, the gap between them and the Millionaires will extend to 12 points, and that won’t be reachable. On the other side, if Borussia triumphs, they are down to six points, and from that position, anything is possible.
Bayern Munich
The German champions suffered a nasty slap against Villarreal, ending their UEFA Champions League quest already in the quarterfinals. The Bavarians were one of the top rivals but failed to beat the Yellow Submarine.
We’ve seen them recovering against Arminia Bielefeld on the road, 0-3, yet the turbulences inside the locker room and around the same didn’t disappear. There are a lot of unanswered questions, most of them about the future of some players.
Bayern has seven wins, two draws, and one loss at home in the last 10 games. However, three of the past five were with under 2.5 goals, which we didn’t get used to seeing when this unit appears at Allianz Arena. This minor drop in form could explain why this team ended its UCL adventure early.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires aren’t consistent at all, and that is the reason why they sit nine points behind Bayern in the standings. They lose to RB at home, 1-4, and two weeks later smash Wolfsburg 6-1. Also, Haaland wasn’t able to score a goal for quite some time, and the lack of Norwegian’s productivity definitely affected the results.
In the last six road games, Borussia is without a loss, posting three wins and three draws. The previous four were with under 2.5 goals, and after a period in which we saw three or four hits in their games, the Millionaires began playing dull and inefficient games.
Obviously, this team doesn’t have the needed quality to win the title, and they can’t provide consistency to challenge Bayern. Still, they are second and have some chances to stay in the title race.
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Pavard, Upamecano, Hernandez, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Sane, Muller, Gnabry; Lewandowski
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel; Can, Akanji, Zagadou, Guerreiro; Bellingham, Witsel; Hazard, Reus, Brandt; Haaland
Bayern was better than Dortmund in the first Bundesliga game this year, which took place at Signal-Iduna Park, 2-3. It was a very interesting event, but so is any when these two sides meet.
The previous five were all with over 3.5 goals and with both sides netting. Of course, Bayern was victorious in all of them.
The hosts are much better than their rivals, and we expect them to solve this event without too much trouble. Bayern is dominant against Borussia in recent years, and they won’t miss a chance to improve the morale following a very unpleasant elimination from the UEFA Champions League.
Our verdict: Bayern wins
