Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Bayern Munich vs. PSG at UEFA Champions League
The derby of titans is set for this Wednesday night. Bayern Munich hosts Paris Saint-Germain in a replay of the 2020 UEFA Champions League finals. This is the rematch of the round of 16, with the Bavarians having the lead following the opening 90 minutes, as they beat the rivals 1-0 in Paris. Though, two years ago, Bayern beat PSG with the same result at Parc des Princes before losing at home and suffering elimination in the quarterfinals of the same competition. So everything is possible.
Bayern Munich
The Bundesliga champs defeated Stuttgart on the road on Saturday afternoon, 1-2. Bayern controlled the match throughout the entire time, but eventually allowed a goal in the finish. This was the sixth win for Julian Nagelsmann and the guys in the past seven events, with the only loss being to Borussia in Monchengladbach.
We still didn’t see this unit losing at Allianz during the current campaign, and in the previous 10 events here, Bayern won eight and had two draws. Six of them were with the hosts keeping their sheets intact.
On seven occasions, Nagelsmann’s crew netted at least three times, and as in the past years, Bayern is one of the most ruthless and efficient hosts in entire Europe.
PSG
The Saints struggle and the recent games are showing that. Even though this team defeated Marseille on the road 0-3, they haven’t been consistent at all, and as time goes by, more and more flaws emerge to the surface.
The chemistry is also poor, and it seems the players are a little bit fed up with one another. Messi shines occasionally, and he is apparently happy with the World Cup. Conversely, Mbappe isn’t pleased, and that’s obvious, while Neymar doesn’t care about football as he used to be in the past.
Before winning in Marseille, PSG lost back-to-back games on the road, in Monaco, 3-1, and against Marseille, 2-1. They have only two clean sheets in the past 10 outings.
Bayern Munich: Sommer; Pavard, Upamecano, De Ligt, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Sane, Musiala, Coman; Choupo-Moting
Paris Saint-Germain: Donnarumma; Mukiele, Marquinhos, Ramos, Mendes; Vitinha, Verratti, Ruiz; Soler; Messi, Mbappe
The first meeting finished with Bayern’s minimal win, 0-1. The only scorer was Kingsley Coman in the 53rd minute of the game. When looking in general, Bayern was better and deserved to win.
The Bavarians learned a lesson once, and they will be much more focused on Wednesday. There isn’t an away goal rule now, yet that won’t decrease their sense of urgency and focus. PSG struggled to deliver in certain games this year, and could have been more stable away from home, despite the recent win against Marseille. On the other side, Bayern is without a loss at home, and we simply have to pick them to win.
Our verdict: Bayern Munich
