Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Bayern Munich vs. Tottenham at International Friendlies
Bayern is on the path of a great rebuild, and the new manager, Vincent Company, should use this preseason period to do as much work as possible. Last season was a disaster for the Bavarians, who couldn’t win a single trophy following decades of success, and because of that, we saw radical changes. Meanwhile, Tottenham hasn’t had any radical changes despite their silverware drought. Ange Postecoglou had a great start last year, but injuries ravaged the Spurs, who had yet another terrible campaign.
Bayern Munich
The Bavarians have been in the working mode for quite some time, though they didn’t play against top teams. Two friendlies, one vs. Rottach-Egern, which they’ve won 14-1, and the other against FC Duren, 1-1, were the only ones this unit had since the start of the training camp.
The management splashed the cash this summer, bringing two very expensive players, Joao Palhinha and Michael Olise, for over $50 million each. They are expected to speed up the midfield, which struggled in the past, particularly when it comes to imposing its own rhythm.
Harry Kane won’t play against the Spurs, but there are plenty of replacements, including Mathys Tel.
Tottenham
The Spurs have been together for a long time and have already played five matches ahead of this one. Plus, they are in Asia much earlier than the German powerhouse, so Ange Postecoglou’s unit has already adapted to the circumstances.
In general, we saw them playing with very strong lineups as Son, Werner, Kulusevski, Johnson, Sarr, Davies, and others were involved in action from the start of the camp.
There won’t be any major changes in Tottenham’s style of play, with fast transition and extreme pressure down the flanks being the pivotal part of their system.
Bayern Munich: Ulreich; Stanisic, Kim, Ito, Mazraoui; Guerreiro, Goretzka, Dier, Boey; Gnabry, Tel
Tottenham: Austin; Porro, Skipp, Dragusin, Donley; Kulusevski, Gray, Bissouma; Maddison, Son, Werner
Bayern was more than confident against Tottenham the last time these two units met. It was in the 2029 UCL group stage edition. After a masterful performance in London, where they beat Tottenham 7-2, they were routine at home, 3-1.
The Spurs are already at full speed, unlike Bayern, which has yet to reach the working temperature. When looking at the whole picture, our pick here would be for Tottenham to score at least two goals. Knowing their defensive vulnerabilities, it’s too risky to bet on Spurs’ victory. However, the attack is impressive, and when we add that Bayern won’t have its best backline at its disposal, this sounds like the best choice.
Our verdict: Tottenham over 1.5 goals
