Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Belgium vs Morocco | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Belgium won the opener, but their performance concerned all the fans. The Devils didn’t look well at all, and beating Canada was pure luck. On the other side, Morocco played one very dull and rough contest against Croatia, in which they looked better, and we can say that the African team fulfilled its goal, which was to take a point. They are now without pressure against the Belgian unit, and that’s why it is interesting to see this contest.
Belgium
Dendocker, Alderweireld, and Vertonghen endured one of the most intense pressures on them in their international career. The way Canada attacked was a stunner not only for us but also for the Belgian players, who often looked helpless on the field.
For a long time, we haven’t seen the Devils being this inferior, but despite all that, Roberto Martinez’s unit was victorious at the end, with Batshuayi scoring the game-winner. By the way, the experienced forward was terrible apart from scoring that goal, and Romelu Lukaku’s comeback is something every Belgian fan wants to see.
Kevin De Bruyne did his part of the job well, but there was no help in the midfield, with Witsel and Hazard looking pretty deflated. But the experience and a flash of individual quality solved this one, which only shows how big of a team Belgium is.
Morocco
The Moroccans were motivated to beat Croatia but simply, there was no chance of seeing a goal in this event. Both teams tightened up their defenses, with the midfielders being extra careful. Though, the Moroccan side tried to dictate the tempo, but without success.
Once again, we had the opportunity to see Morocco’s defense, which didn’t allow a goal in six of the last seven games. They were pretty tight and very composed, not allowing the rivals to get the ball into the box.
Ziyech and Hakimi didn’t make the difference upfront as we expected, but to be honest, the Moroccan side wasn’t in the mood to risk anything. Tactical discipline, which was one of the biggest problems for this crew in the past, was at the needed level here.
Belgium: Courtois; Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Debast; Onana, Tielemans, Witsel, Castagne; De Bruyne, Lukaku, E Hazard
Morocco: Bono; Hakimi, Saiss, Aguerd, Mazraoui; Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah; Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal
The two teams played at the World Cup in the United States back in 1994, when Belgium won 1-0. The most recent clash was a friendly in 2008 when Morocco trashed the rivals 4-1.
The game will be very tough, and our pick here is a moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals. Both sides will be conservative at first, but as time goes by and the game develops, goals will come.
Our verdict: 2 or 3 goals
