Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Betis vs. Chelsea at Europa Conference League
The Conference League title is at stake. For Betis, this is a chance to win the first-ever European trophy, while if Chelsea takes the silverware, they will have all the possible European trophies in their collection. The Blues are favorites, no doubt about that, yet Betis plays incredibly well in the second part of the season, and it’s no wonder they reached this stage.
Betis
Betis has been mediocre in the last few matches. They were without a victory for four straight until last weekend, losing all chances to reach the Champions League through La Liga. Ties against Osasuna at home and Rayo on the road pushed them behind Villarreal, and a loss to Atletico Madrid on the road, 4-1, sealed their Europa League status.
Verdiblancos’ previous 10 games all saw both teams netting, and that’s been Betis’ trademark recently. What worries Manuel Pellegrini is the inconsistency in defense, which has allowed multiple goals in three of the past four games.
Anthony has been a menace since coming to Betis, and he will have a huge motive to prove himself against a Premier League team. He is still on loan from United, but his performances since joining the team from Seville make him one of the top targets in this summer’s transfer window.
Chelsea
Enzo Maresca just might get a positive grade at the end of the season. If Chelsea wins the Conference League and secures the UCL, the Italian manager will have a splendid debut season—and it didn’t start like that.
The Blues are in excellent form, having won six of the last seven games (until last weekend) and beating teams like Liverpool or Manchester United. Sure, the two didn’t have much to play for, but you still have to defeat them even in such situations.
What worries the fans is that the Blues didn’t have much time to rest following an exhausting match in Nottingham against Forest. This could be a problem here.
Betis: Adrian; Sabaly, Bartra, Natan, Rodriguez; Johnny, Fornals; Antony, Isco, Rodriguez; Bakambu
Chelsea: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, George; Neto
The two sides met 20 years ago in the Champions League group stage. Each team won: Chelsea 4-0 at home and Betis 1-0 in front of their fans.
Bettis struggles heavily in defense. We don’t believe that Pellegrini wants to go out and attack, or be risky, but even if he does set up a more conservative tactic, the Spaniards’ chances to keep their net intact are low. Chelsea oscillates, and that’s a fact, but over the past few weeks, the team has posted solid performances. That’s the sole reason why we pick the Blues to win.
Our verdict: Chelsea wins
