Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich at Bundesliga
Borussia Dortmund hosts Bayern Munich on Saturday in the biggest derby of the German Bundesliga. These two teams are the most popular in the country and have a huge fanbase outside Germany. Yet, we need to say that despite that, there is a significant difference between them when looking at the results and the success in the past few years. Bayern has been dominating the Bundesliga for the past decade, while Borussia isn’t anywhere near the level of football displayed under Klopp once they won back-to-back titles.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires have won the past three games at home, without a single goal allowed, and that is something that has been the better part of their performances. For a long time, the team’s biggest weapon from Dortmund was offense, and the situation is completely opposite now.
Borussia is coming off a big win in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. They would defeat Sevilla in Spain, 1-4, generating a swing before der Klassiker. They needed something like this, especially following just one win and three losses in the past four events.
Four of their past five games have seen three goals, but all of them were on the road.
Bayern Munich
The champions are back on the right path, following a strange few weekends in which they lost points at home (three times in a row) before eventually losing to Augsburg on the road in the final game before the international break.
Yet following the pause, they were the old, good Bayern once again, trashing Leverkusen and Plzen at home, 4-0 and 5-0, respectively. We don’t have to say anything about their style of play and tendencies on the pitch, as we already know that Bayern plays ultra-offensive football.
The Bavarians are very efficient on the road and in four of their seven events, have scored five or more hits.
Borussia Dortmund: Meyer; Meunier, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Can, Bellingham; Moukoko, Brandt, Hazard; Modeste
Bayern Munich: Neuer; Davies, Upamecano, de Ligt, Pavard; Goretzka, Sabitzer, Sane, Musiala, Mane; Gnabry
Bayern has eight straight wins over Borussia, and they have been very dominant against this rival in the last few years. As for efficiency, the last six games were with four or more goals, and both teams netting.
Bayern is a better team when looking at the overall picture, and we are betting on their win on Saturday. Nagelsmann’s unit plays lethal football, and despite Borussia’s solid defensive performances recently, the guests will end up on the winning side. Apart from that, the game will probably see three or more goals as well.
Our verdict: Bayern wins
