Brighton 

After two fantastic performances, one against Luton and the other in Wolverhampton, the Seagulls collapsed against West Ham. For the first time in a while, this unit didn’t look like itself, making mistakes in the midfield and allowing the guests to reach their box without particular problems. 

The Hammers triumphed 1-3, some would say higher than they deserved, but we don’t agree with that. For what is worth, the tradition of high-scoring affairs continued for Brighton, with this being the third since the beginning of the campaign with four or more hits, and both teams netting.

Caicedo’s presence in the midfield is visible, but Roberto De Zerbi has ideas on how to cover up the absence of Liverpool’s newest signing. 

Newcastle 

The Magpies had everything in their hands against Liverpool, and instead of routinely closing the game, they earned their second straight defeat. At 1-0 for them, Virgin Van Dijk was sent off, and at that moment, everyone wrote off the Reds. 

However, Darwin Nunez netted twice in the closing minutes, exploiting the Magpies’ vulnerability on their left side. St. James’ Park froze in those moments, with the only noise coming from the visitors’ sector. 

Newcastle started the year well, trashing Aston Villa 5-1, but after that, they couldn’t beat the de Bruyne’-less Manchester City on the road, 1-0. A loss to the Reds puts pressure on Howe, who now needs three points otherwise, he might be in the combination for losing his job.
