Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Carlos Alcaraz vs. Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon
The replay of the Roland Garros semis is set for the Wimbledon finals, as Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic meet in the title match. The two of the best tennis players in the world are about to decide who will take the most prestigious trophy in this sport for the 2023 campaign. On one side, we have Alcaraz, the rising star and the force who aims to replace Novak and the Big Three on the tennis throne. Meanwhile, Djokovic is across the net. The all-time leading Grand Slam title winner wants to increase the gap between him and all the other rivals, and also, level with Roger Federer as the most successful player at the All England Club courts.
Carlos Alcaraz
The world no. 1 comes into this event with eleven consecutive victories, as he won the title at Queens prior to Wimbledon. His previous loss was against Novak in the Roland Garros finals, where Carlos stood as an absolute favorite.
Alcaraz faced Chardy and Muller in the opening two rounds, not losing a set, and then had slight trouble against Jary and Berrettini in the following two events, where he lost a set. He would eliminate Holger Rune in the quarterfinals, 3-0, but after a tight battle, and smash Daniil Medvedev in the semis, 3-0.
He was all over the Russian, recording 71% of the first serve percentage and 73% won on his first serve. He used six of his 14 break points, and had 46% of points won on return. Enough said about Carlos.
Novak Djokovic
The Joker was ruthless against Jannik Sinner, beating the Italian in straight sets. The crowd was all in for Sinner, which only motivated the Serb, who even had some gests towards the stands, showing his defiance.
Anyway, this was the 14th consecutive triumph for Novak, who had a nasty path to the finals. He beat Pablo Cachin and Jordan Thompson in the first two rounds, then Stan Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam champ, before facing Hubert Hurkach and Andrey Rublev, against whom he lost a set each.
Novak holds his serve in 97% of the time, similar to Carlos. His return is doing well, but we must stress that his first serve was poor and under the expected level in the previous two events.
So far, we’ve seen only two meetings between these two guys. The first was in Madrid last year and Alcaraz won 2-1. The second less than a month ago in the Roland Garros semis, where Novak triumphed, 3-1.
This is the grass surface, and no matter how convincing Alcaraz looked, our money is on Novak. He’s been a seven-time champ here, which needs to be respected. Yes, his game isn’t as everyone expected, but he always saves the best for the last.
Our verdict: Novak Djokovic wins
