Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Chelsea vs. AC Milan at UEFA Champions League
There aren’t too many changes in Chelsea’s game since Thomas Tuchel left. The Blues are still struggling, posting mixed results, and not having the consistency needed to attack the top of the English Premier League. The two-time European champions have a massive challenge coming up their way, as AC Milan comes to London, eager to take all three points and secure its position in the knockout stage. Stefano Pioli and his squad have no respect for any team, which guarantees a good battle at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea
The team from London won on the road on Saturday afternoon, beating Crystal Palace, 1-2. The Blues scored in the closing moments of the event, taking three points even though they didn’t deserve them. We have to be completely honest and say that Chelsea’s performance wasn’t very confident.
This was only the second victory for the Blues in the previous five events, and they currently have one point in the UEFA Champions League. Following a shocking defeat against Dinamo in Zagreb, they later played 1-1 at home against Red Bull Salzburg.
Chelsea spent a record amount of money for defenders this summer, yet, there isn’t any improvement in the back line whatsoever. In the past eight straight games, they would concede at least one goal, presenting mediocre displays and lots of errors.
AC Milan
Pioli and the boys were victorious in Empoli on Saturday. The final result of the game was 1-3 for Rosonerri, and all four hits came after the 79th minute.
Pioli and his crew continued to play at the same pace as in the previous year once they won Scudetto, and for many, Milan’s consistency comes as a huge surprise. Even though they don’t have some sounding names on the roster, Rosonerri act as a team, compensating for the lack of individual quality with marvelous fighting spirit.
Six of their most recent clashes ended with both teams netting, and five of them were with three or more goals. Milan plays open and offensive football, and they have fantastic Leao upfront making the difference.
Chelsea: Kepa; Fofana, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mount, Aubameyang, Sterling
AC Milan: Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Ballo-Toure; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, De Ketelaere, Leao; Giroud
Chelsea and Milan played 2016 a friendly game, and the Blues were better, 1-3. They met in the 1999 UEFA Champions League group stage, with both events ending without winners, 0-0 in London and 1-1 in Milan.
We can’t give an edge to either side and because of that, we will go with a draw here. We rarely take this bet, but in this case, the overall form and the situation on and off the field suggest that Chelsea doesn’t have the power to win, and on the other side, that AC Milan won’t mind picking up a point in London.
Our verdict: Draw
