Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Chelsea vs. Newcastle at English Premier League
These two sides had high hopes before this season, and the way things are now, it might turn out to be a pretty frustrating and disappointing campaign for either unit. Chelsea is far from the top, while Newcastle started well but collapsed later and is also pretty distant from the zone leading to Europe. Nevertheless, the clash of these two teams will be interesting to watch, as well as to bet.
Chelsea
Chelsea’s results are very colorful and mixed. The team is inconsistent and very unpredictable, winning when nobody expects it while also failing to deliver in some pretty simple situations.
They have a single defeat in the last six games, but that one failure cost them the trophy. Chelsea was defeated in the EFL Cup finals by Liverpool, allowing a goal in the 118th minute of the second extra time. After that, the Blues bounced back with a 3-2 win over Leeds in the FA Cup and played 2-2 against Brentford on the road.
Pochettino’s boys are playing well at Stamford, having only one loss in the last 12 appearances across all the competitions. It was against Wolves two weeks ago, with the guests from Molineux destroying the hosts, 2-4.
Newcastle
The way Eddie Howe’s boys opened the season made us think that the Magpies could chase the title. However, it was obvious a couple of months later that Newcastle doesn’t have enough depth nor the experience to attack the top four position, let alone the trophy.
But at least the Magpies’ events deliver plenty of goals and are always interesting to watch. Eight of the recent ten they had were with over 2.5 goals, while seven saw both teams delivering.
Their road form has been uphill lately because Newcastle managed to win in five of the previous six away matches, including all the competitions. By the way, in each of them, they’ve scored twice at least.
Chelsea: Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Colwill, Chilwell; Fernandez, Caicedo; Palmer, Gallagher, Mudryk; Jackson
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley; Almiron, Isak, Gordon

There were two matches between Chelsea and Newcastle this season. The first was in November, when the Magpies humiliated Chelsea at St. James’ Park 4-1, and one three weeks later in December, when Chelsea eliminated the rivals in the EFL Cup quarterfinals after a dramatic game.
Newcastle was leading at halftime, up until the second minute of the stoppage time when Mudryk leveled. After that, Chelsea used the momentum to triumph after penalties.
Both of these units have very good offenses and very poor defenses, which leads us to a logical conclusion when deciding the best pick – both teams to score. That’s highly frequent in their performances, and given all the factors here, it is the safest choice.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
