Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Croatia vs. Brazil | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
Croatia and Brazil are among the top eight teams in the World Cup in Qatar, and these two teams hope to reach the semis. The Croats would like to see themselves making a massive upset and winning this clash, while Brazil wants to take a step closer to the finals and the title. These two teams have met twice at the World Cup, but we’ll talk about that later in the text.
Croatia
The Croats survived the last two games and reached the last eight. After a very fiery ending against Belgium, in which the dEvils had three chances to score and eliminate the rivals from the knockout stage, we saw Croatia enduring a war against Japan.
The runners-up from the previous World Cup again fell behind in the first half, which was the second time at the tournament (first vs. Canada), but again clawed their way back. Croatia is specialized in penalties and overtime in international games, as we saw them twice doing that four years ago in Russia.
Dominik Livakovic, a fantastic young goalkeeper, was superb, stopping the Japanese players on three occasions and picking up the man of the match honors. He was perfect throughout the 90 minutes as well.
Brazil
What happened to Korea in the first half was a message to Croatia. Four goals in the opening 45 minutes made the Koreans look like amateurs, but this team is far from that, which only shows how strong Brazil really is.
Richarlison, Neymar, Vinicius, and all the rest were flying up and down on the pitch, creating nightmare problems for the rivals, and besides that, they looked pretty attractive. Richarlison has three goals now, and he could be after the Golden Boot.
Brazil allowed a goal in the second half, but like against Cameroon, that happened in the moments when Selecao didn’t have to rush for any result and was in a comfortable position. For the moment, the important thing is that apart from Gabriel Jesus, Selecao has no injured or suspended players.
Croatia: Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Gvardiol, Barisic; Kovacic, Brozovic, Modric; Kramaric, Livaja, Perisic
Brazil: Alisson; Militao, Marquinhos, Silva, Danilo; Paqueta, Casemiro, Neymar; Raphinha, Richarlison, Vinicius Jr
There were four games between these nations in the past, with Brazil winning three and one draw. Two events were at the World Cups in 2006 and 2014, and Brazil won in both, 1-0 and 3-1, respectively.
The Brazilians are better than Croatia, and that’s a fact. We doubt that Modric and the company might slow down Tite’s unit, which is why our pick here is Selecao. Right now, Croatia can’t compete with Brazilians.
Our pick: Brazil wins
