Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Curtis Blaydes vs. Tom Aspinall at UFC Fight Night 208
Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall are highlighting the UFC Fight Night 208. The two heavyweights who are in limbo between the top of the division and the gatekeeper status will determine which one gets a chance to meet with the best of the best in this category. Blaydes had a few attacks on the top, and they ended up pretty badly. Meanwhile, Aspinall is on the rise, and his recent performances have earned the Englishman a chance to be another headliner.
Curtis Blaydes
The Razor has been one of the most promising fighters of his generation. However, he failed to deliver in each of his big fights, losing twice to Francis Ngannou and once to Derrick Lewis. On all three occasions, Blaydes was knocked out cold. Demolished, we might say.
His primary quality is wrestling and he is one of the most gifted heavyweights in that aspect of the battle, but his standup is pretty limited, even though he knows how to punch and inflict pain. On the other side, it appears that his defense and chin aren’t tough at all.
Blaydes has significant wins in his career, beating the likes of Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov, Chris Daukas, etc. We can’t say that he isn’t near the elite of the division, but still, the way he lost to Ngannou and Lewis casts a massive shadow over his quality.
Tom Aspinall
The Brit has been riding a wave of success for quite some time. He is without a defeat in the last eight bouts and is perfect in the UFC, having all five wins in the organization via stoppage. That is what made him one of the more attractive fighters in the division.
Aspinal is a strong puncher and a very massive guy who knows his way around the octagon. Though even though it isn’t his primary opinion during the battle, he won two of the past three bouts via submission against his biggest opponents so far, Andrei Arlovski and Alexander Volkov.
The win over Volkov came after less than four minutes, and overall, only three of his victories weren’t in the opening round, which only tells how efficient this guy is. Razor and his gas tank will be a true test for Aspinall.
The Razor had many fights like these, and his biggest advantage over Aspinall is experience. He knows how to slow down things and make the fight a tactical one, which won’t suit Aspinall at all. The Brit will no doubt push things pretty hard in the opening sequence with the fans behind him. If Blaydes survives that, and we believe that he will, then his chances of winning are increasing.
Overall, our pick here is the Razor, because of his experience and the fact that he has one hell of a gas tank, while on the other hand, Aspinall isn’t tested properly so far.
Our verdict: Blaydes to win
