Since we’ve seen major progress made by Gaethje, who was one step away from the title, but Khabib and Oliveira were better at the time. Dustin Poirier

The Diamond is one of the biggest stars in the UFC, and he is an icon for the majority of the fans. The 34-year-old has been around for a long time, posting incredible fights against pretty much all the important names in the lightweight division. His record is 29 wins and seven losses, but in recent times, he has significantly more victories than failures.

Following the loss to Oliveira at the UFC 269, he went on to face Michael Chandler at the UFC 281. The Diamond submitted the former Bellator champ in the third round following a fight that amazed the crowd. Over the past three years, he holds two wins over Conor McGregor and Dan Hooker, and a defeat to Khabib. Poirier beat the names like Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, Anthony Pettis, etc.

He is a versatile fighter who knows how to wrestle and fight in the stand-up. We’ve seen him going to the mat even with Khabib, but due to his large frame, he usually loses stamina in those positions. It is different when on feet, because he knows to dictate the tempo and keeps the separation.

Justin Gaethje

There couldn’t be a more suitable nickname for Gaethje than his current one – Highlight. In every one of his fights, there is at least one highlight that can be described as mesmerizing. That’s why he is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC. Gaethje holds a record of 24 wins and four losses, one against Dustin.

After that failure, he exploded, beating James Vick, Edson Barboza, Donald Cerrone, and Tony Ferguson, earning a chance to attack the title. Khabib was better than him, and Gaethje stayed without the belt. He faced Michael Chandler in the fight of the year, winning by a unanimous decision and getting another shot at the throne, but this time, Oliveira denied his quest. In his last bout at the UFC 286, Gaethje was better than Rafael Fiziev by a majority decision.

He is a lethal finisher, with 19 of his 24 wins coming by a KO. Whether it is that leg or hand, his punches are devastating, and there aren’t too many guys in the division with his power.

Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje Predictions

This will be a battle for the ages, we are sure about that. Still, there is a slight edge on Poirier’s side because of his grappling and wrestling skills. The Diamond is much better on the mat, and that’s the place where Gaethje’s defense isn’t good at all.
