Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Dynamo Kyiv vs. Fenerbahce at UEFA Champions League
Dynamo Kyiv and Fenerbahce will meet in the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. The two teams have high ambitions, but only one can advance to the next stage. This is, by the way, the league path, where non-champions compete for a place in the UCL. Also, because of the situation in Ukraine, Dynamo will play its matches in Lublin, Poland, which is a big handicap for the Ukrainian unit.
Dynamo Kyiv
The Ukrainian unit lost some of its players and now relies upon young domestic guys, who are very talented. Mykola Shaparenko, Ilya Zabarnyi, Denys Popov, etc., were very promising, some even starters, but now, they are the leaders of this unit.
Vitinho came back from Brazil, and no doubt, the left winger will be of massive use to Mircea Lucescu. The top player is the 24-year-old right winger, Viktor Tsygankov, who was on the radar of several major European teams but, despite that, stayed in Dynamo.
The team had quite the number of friendly matchups during the summer, and only in July did they play six of them. The most recent, which was a general test before the UCL qualifiers, against Antwerp concluded with a 2-1 loss. The previous four were all with over 2.5 goals, and only one didn’t see both teams netting.
Fenerbahce
The Turkish powerhouse didn’t have some noisy transfer window, but they did land a few excellent players. The two most sounding names are Bruma and Joshua King, who came to Istanbul as free players. Fener landed a couple of younger players: a 24-year-old Diego Rossi from LAFC and a year younger Lincoln, the Brazilian from Santa Clara.
Mesut Ozil left, but that didn’t disturb the plans of one of the most popular teams in this part of Europe. This team is more or less young with a solid potential for improvement.
Fener played six control games during the preseason, winning five and having only one draw, which was in their first meeting after the call-up. The offense was especially impressive as it scored 16 goals in these six games. Serdar Dursun and Enner Valencia were ferocious and stood above others in these events.
The two sides met in August last year in a friendly international, which ended 1-1. Prior to that, they had meetings in the 2008 UCL group stage, when Dynamo won at home, 1-0, while the second event in Istanbul saw no goals.
Dynamo will have a handicap of playing away from home. That is a big deal for the Ukrainian unit, whose home field was a stronghold over the recent few years. Fener is in good shape, but we wouldn’t risk betting on its win here. Instead, both teams scoring looks like the best possible choice in this case.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
