Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for France vs. Denmark | Group Stage, World Cup Qatar 2022
France and Denmark will meet for the third time this year, only this clash will be the most significant one. It’s the World Cup encounter, with the Gauls entering round two with three points while Denmark has only one. France flexed its muscles against Australia, showing its power despite all the doubts and injuries. Meanwhile, the Danish team was pale against Tunisia, not showing anything special. They need to recover and bounce back as soon as possible.
France
The Gauls allowed a goal against Australia early on, and at that moment, many believed that another sensation was in sight. Though, Mbappe and the boys woke up and immediately responded, scoring twice until halftime and adding two more goals in the second 45 minutes for 4-1.
Giroud and Mbappe are the winning combinations in the attack, and we are close to the opinion that things would be overcrowded upfront with Benzema. However, we need to say that the midfield does look a bit weaker without Pogba and Kante, especially when it comes to physicality.
France allowed a goal in five of the last seven games, but do know that they play much differently at big competitions than in UNL or friendly games.
Denmark
It wasn’t very pleasant to see Denmark in the opening game against Tunisia. They were among the dark horses at the World Cup, but we haven’t seen anything worth mentioning in those 90 minutes.
Lack of creativity, very slow and sluggish midfield, and extreme intolerance to the rivals’ pressure were three of the most significant minuses for Denmark. Eriksen was nowhere near his usual level of play, while Dolberg didn’t receive a single opportunity to endanger Tunisia’s defense.
We knew that Denmark plays low-efficient and hard football, but we expected to see them dictating the tempo and setting the pace. This was the fourth time in the last five of their contests to see under 2.5 goals, and if Denmark continues to play like this, things won’t change too much.
France: Lloris; Pavard, Upamecano, Konate, Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud
Denmark: Schmeichel; Wass, Andersen, Christensen, Maehle; Kristensen, Eriksen, Emile Hojbjerg; Olsen, Dolberg, Damsgaard
Denmark defeated France twice during this year’s UEFA Nations League group stage. At first, it was 1-2 for Denmark in Paris, and after that, we saw them beating the Gauls 2-0 in Copenhagen.
Four years ago, France and Denmark played in Russia at the World Cup. That match ended without goals, the only one in the entire championship.
We take France to win here, as they look better than the Danish unit and have more solutions in their game. Mbappe and Dembele will cause trouble for the Danish defense due to their speed. Do know that France will play much differently than during the UNL. We particularly mentioned these two guys who have a massive motive to prove themselves after the recent losses.
Our verdict: France wins
