Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Germany vs. Denmark at EURO 2024
The Germans did their thing, winning the group and successfully advancing to the knockout stage. For them, Denmark is just another step towards the ultimate goal: the title. Meanwhile, the Danish side was second in their assembly, though they haven’t left a particularly positive impression on us. Three games, three ties, and a pale impression.
Germany
After trashing Scotland in the opening event, Die Mannschaft slowed down against Hungary, and despite winning, it did not leave a strong impression. Following this, the hosts didn’t thrill anyone against Switzerland, avoiding a defeat in the last moments of the event.
But still, they are on a seven-game defeatless run, during which they won five times and had two draws. In all the victories, Germany netted at least twice.
Overall, from what we saw, the Germans are still trying to find the perfect formula. They were near it against Scotland, but Nagelsmann’s unit was visibly slower during the other two meetings.
Denmark
Kasper Hjulmand’s crew didn’t show anything at this EURO. There was a period of solid play against England when they scored and after that, but overall, we can’t say that the Danish team did anything positive apart from advancing to the next stage.
The most recent meeting against Serbia was a disaster to watch, and even though they seemed better than the weak Serbs, we still haven’t seen the Red and Whites delivering upfront. Hojlund and Wind are terrible, and Hjulmand might change the attacking duo.
The most recent event they played was the first after five in a row without both teams netting, and only the second during that stretch without moderate efficiency, meaning two or three goals.
Germany: Neuer; Kimmich, Schlotterbeck, Rudiger, Mittelstadt; Andrich, Kroos; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Havertz
Denmark: Schmeichel; Andersen, Christensen, Vestergaard; Bah, Hojbjerg, Norgaard, Maehle; Eriksen; Hojlund, Wind
The previous two contests (2017 and 2021) have seen the same result, 1-1. Both were friendly international matches. When talking about the latest competitive encounters, the most recent was at the 2012 EURO when Germany beat Denmark 1-2.
Germans are the favorites because of the home court and the fact that they have a mild and flat team ahead of them. We do respect Denmark because it was one of the best teams in Europe in the past ten years, but right now, they aren’t among the top nations on the continent, and we have to bet on Die Mannschaft.
Our verdict: Germany wins
