Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Mexico vs. Panama at Gold Cup Finals

  • Where: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, California
  • When: Sunday, July 16, 7:30 pm ET

The Gold Cup Finals take place at the futuristic SoFi Stadium in LA, the home of the NFL teams, the Chargers, and the Rams. On one side, we have Mexico, who was expected to be here, while on the other is Panama, a team that stunned the hosts, the USA, in the semis. Mexico is a clear favorite in this event, yet, after seeing the Panama team playing, nobody can guarantee Sombreros’ triumph.

Mexico vs. Panama Preview

Mexico

The Sombreros won pretty confidently against Jamaica in the semis, 0-3. They immediately imposed the pace and the tempo on the field, breaking the defense after less than 120 seconds of play, with Henry Martin scoring the opener. Luis Chavez increased that to 2-0, and Roberto Alvarado netted in the third minute of the injury time to seal the deal.

Mexico won four of five games at the Gold Cup, losing minimally only to Qatar in the final round of the group stage in a game that had no competitive motive for them.

In five appearances, Mexico recorded three clean sheets, scoring 12 times, demonstrating its dominance even though they aren’t playing with the strongest squad.

Panama

The Red Tide is without a loss at this year’s Gold Cup, and that needs to be acknowledged. They met with Costa Rica, Martinique, El Salvador, and Qatar before eliminating the top favorite for the trophy, the United States team.

After 0-0 during 90 minutes, Panama and the US team went to extra times, where Red Tide took the lead in the 99th minute through Ivan Anderson. Jesus Ferreira leveled the score, but Panama had more nerves during the penalty shootout, outlasting the hosts 5-4.

This was the first clash for Panama after four straight in which the fans didn’t see three or more goals. All of the events in the group stage included both teams scoring as well.

Mexico vs. Panama Head to Head

Days before the Gold Cup began, Mexico and Panama played in another final, only this time, it was the CONCACAF Nations League tournament. Sombreros edged out the rivals, 1-0, with Jesus Gallardo’s goal in the fourth minute of the event.

The Mexicans haven’t lost in 17 straight against the Red Tide.

Mexico vs. Panama Prediction

The Mexicans are better, even without their biggest stars who play in Europe. It seems that Sombreros have some kind of a formula for Panama each time they meet, so them winning this event is the only logical pick.
