Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Inter Milan vs. Arsenal at UEFA Champions League
This is, without a doubt, the most interesting matchup of the day, where Italian champions meet the Premiership runners-up. Both sides have high hopes for this season, and not only do they want a direct spot in the knockout stage, but aim to win the Champions League title.
Inter Milan
Apart from losing to the city rivals, AC Milan, Inter was undefeated this year. Simone Inzaghi’s unit looks compact, strong and constant, which is why many see it already as the future Italian champions.
When playing at home, Inter’s games are highly efficient, and in each but one, Nerazzurri have scored at least twice. The attack is the primary weapon of this team and has been in the past.
We’ve mentioned that their matches at Meazza are efficient. Only one didn’t end with over 2.5 goals, while the previous three ended with four or more hits.
Arsenal
The Gunners struggled against Shakhtar at home in the previous UCL round, winning just 1-0. On the other hand, they are still undefeated with seven points in three appearances, though they have plenty of challenges ahead, so each point will be worth gold.
Knowing that they played against Preston last Wednesday, we can say that Arsenal’s schedule is more than overloaded. Mikel Arteta will need to be very creative to keep his players from injuries and suspensions.
The game against Preston, in which the Gunners won 0-3, was their first success on the road after three straight, in which they haven’t triumphed. They haven’t been as confident away from the Emirates as they are in front of their own fans.
Inter Milan: Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez
Arsenal: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Timber; Rice, Partey; Saka, Trossard, Martinelli; Havertz
The last meeting between the two teams was in 2007 when Arsenal hosted Inter in the Emirates Cup and won 2-1. They also played in the 2003 UEFA Champions League edition. The results were quite odd: 1-5 for Arsenal in Milan and 0-3 for Inter in London.
Inter is a very tough team, and even though they provide high-scoring matches when big games take place, Inzaghi knows to tighten up the situation and set cautious tactics. Arsenal and Arteta are more or less conservative on the road, and all this is the reason why we pick 2 or 3 goals as the pick for this one. We won’t go with the full-time result but prefer moderate efficiency. To be honest, the final result could go either way, so we won’t touch that.
Our verdict: 2 or 3 goals.
