Prediction, Odds & Betting tips for Inter Milano vs. AS Roma at Serie A
One fantastic Serie A matchup awaits us this Saturday night, with Inter Milan hosting AS Roma. Joes Mourinho returns to the place where he won the famous treble a decade ago. However, his connection with this club won’t stop the Portuguese from trying to beat them and take back three points with him to Rome. Both of these teams are contenders for the title, meaning that three points against a direct rival are a necessity.
Inter
Nerazzurri has oscillated quite a lot since the campaign started. So far, they’ve played nine games, posting five wins and four defeats, and there isn’t any grey zone in their performances; either it is a good game, or a poor one.
Following an extremely efficient start, during which Inter’s games saw three or more goals, two of the past three have ended with under 2.5 scores. Simone Inzaghi’s unit lost the most recent clash, on the road in Udine against Udinese, 3-1, which severely deteriorated his position.
Inter has three wins in Serie A at home and one loss which was in the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich. A big problem for Inzaghi is the fact that Romelu Lukaku isn’t at his best, due to poor fitness and various minor injuries. He did play for Belgium during the break but looked rather bad.
Roma
Mourinho’s charisma and winning the UEFA Conference League last year fired up Roma’s fans. Also, the arrivals of some big-time names, like Matic, Dybala, Belotti, and Wijnaldum, increased the appetites of a vast army of fans. However, the latter picked up an injury, which set him apart from the field for a long time.
Roma lost the most recent league game, against Atalanta, 0-1, which was their third defeat in the previous five contests. This match ended the five-game streak of events with three or more hits, during which Il Lupi showed massive oscillations.
Mourinho is still placing all the pieces of the puzzle in their place, so it is no wonder why Roma has played hot and cold lately. As for the games on the road, apart from beating Empoli, they have two losses and a draw.
Inter Milan: Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Brozovic, Gagliardini, Gosens; Martinez, Dzeko
Roma: Patricio; Mancini, Smalling, Ibanez; Celik, Cristante, Pellegrini, Spinazzola; Zaniolo, Dybala; Abraham
Inter didn’t lose in the past 12 games against Roma, with the previous defeat coming back in February 2017. When looking at the more recent past, we saw three games last year between these two sides, and in all three, Nerazzurri was pretty dominant, winning in all, with a combined goal difference of 8-1.
We think the upcoming game could be very efficient, even though many other analysts believe otherwise. Inter has no other option but to attack because Inzaghi has an imperative to win. On the other side, we saw that Roma’s defense isn’t that confident, yet their attack is pretty solid. So all this, plus our hunch, forces us to bet on Over 2.5 goals.
Our verdict: Over 2.5 goals
