Italy and Germany meet in the opening round of the UEFA Nations League. This is one of the football classics and something that all the fans across the world want to see. Azzuri comes into this even still in a state of shock following an unexpected exit from the semis of the World Cup playoffs against North Macedonia. Germany didn’t make a notable result in the last three big international tournaments. A particularly painful experience was in Russia, where this team exited the competition in the first round, and we don’t need to remind you that they were the reigning champs at the time.

Hansi Flick has the job of erasing all that bad memory, and for the moment, he is still trying to figure out how to do it. A test against Italy is the best possible one. After losing to the Germans in the semis of the EURO, Germany went on to win in the next eight events, all of them scoring at least twice, before playing 1-1 with the Netherlands on the road in the friendly international game.
