Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for UFC: Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Fight Night
The two tough UFC middleweights clash this Saturday night in Louisville, both with the same intention, which would be to win. Cannonier wants to take a shot at the title again, and he needs to come out as the winner here, while Imavov looks for the same opportunity, and this could be his ticket to the promised land.
Jared Cannonier
The Killa Gorilla is 17-6 in the MMA and is on a two-win streak. He would previously lost to Israel Adesanya in the title bout via unanimous decision, yet came back with wins over Sean Strickland and Marvin Vettori. To be honest, he didn’t deserve to beat Strickland, even though it was a split-decision triumph back in December 2022.
Throughout his career, Cannonier had some big victories. He defeated Jack Hermansson, Kelvin Gastelum, Derek Brunson, Anderson Silva, etc. On the other hand, losses came to Dominick Reyes, Robert Whittaker, Adesanya, Jan Blachowicz, and Glover Teixeira.
The American is a powerful striker, and that’s because he used to be a heavyweight but dropped divisions as time went by due to severe competition. He isn’t too skilled, but a one-punch KO power covers all that. Cannonier’s skills on the mat are mediocre, and his cardio isn’t that great, though he did improve it over the past years.
Nassourdine Imavov
Imavov’s career was on a roller coaster in the last year and a half, and he is looking to find some consistency at the moment, which would certainly bring him big fights in the future. He lost to Sean Stricklan in the light heavyweight bout, and after that, a no-contest against Chris Curtis in the middleweight. In February this year, the Russian-born who appears under the French flag finally posted a triumph, beating Roman Dolidze via majority decision in an event in which he dominated.
He didn’t have too many high-class victims in the past, and apart from Dolidze, the ones we want to mention are Joaquin Buckley, Edmen Shahbazyan, and Ian Heinisch.
This guy is a well-rounded fighter who knows how to wrestle and do damage in stand-up. In general, we would say that he is a predominant striker with a pretty good arsenal of punches and a touch of refined technique.
Cannonier has heavier punch, but Imavov’s striking abilities are much more versatile and diverse. Meanwhile, we need to say that the Russian’s chin wasn’t tested up until this point, and that could be a problem for him. Cannonier’s mat skills are, as said, problematic, and when we put all this on the table and analyze the situation, we would give a small edge to Imavov.
Our verdict: Imavov wins
