Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Juventus vs. Roma at Serie A
Another big matchup in the Italian Serie A comes up this weekend, as Juventus hosts Roma at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. These two clubs have a massive rivalry, and on top of that, the current situation in the standings demands a victory for both units. Juventus is after Inter and the top spot, while Roma needs to gain consistency and move up the ladder to reach the Champions League zone.
Juventus
The Old Lady has been pretty good this year, and even though it had a few slips, overall, the fans have been satisfied with the current development. With 40 points, they are second in the standings, four steps behind Inter Milan.
Juve has not lost in the recent 12 events across Serie A, winning nine and posting three ties during that stretch. One was against Genoa on the road two weeks ago, but following that event, Allegri’s crew bounced back to defeat Frosinone also away from home.
They are near perfection at home, with six wins and two draws in eight events at the Allianz Stadium, where they scored 12 and allowed only four goals, the lowest in the league with Bologna and Milan.
Roma
Il Lupi beat Napoli last weekend, 2-0, and that was a great boost for Mourinho’s boys, who are unstable and struggle to play decent football away from home. If they had a bit better record on the road, Roma would probably be in the mix for the title.
Their stats away from the Olimpico are devastating, with only two victories in eight outings, along with two draws and four losses. You’ll get the bigger picture when we add that Roma has a negative goal difference when playing in front of a rival’s audience of 9-12.
The efficiency of those games is usually moderate, with four of the previous five outings seeing 2 or 3 hits. But that’s Mourinho and his tactics, so that shouldn’t surprise you either. He deliberately lowers the tempo sometimes.
Juventus: Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Sandro; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Yildiz, Milik
Roma: Patricio; Mancini, Llorente, Ndicka; Kristensen, Cristante, Paredes, Bove, Zalewski; Belotti, Lukaku

According to numbers, Juventus has been better than this rival in the last few years, triumphing in three of the previous five direct encounters.
But Roma has momentum, not losing the latest two contests. Il Lupi took one point from Turin last year, 1-1, and then triumphed at home, 2-0.
With Juve’s defense and Roma’s (Mourinho’s) tactics, we shouldn’t see too many goals on Saturday night in Turin. We expect this to be a typical Italian derby with plenty of physicality and low tempo; therefore, under 2.5 goals is the pick here. Juve has a tremendous defense at home, while Mourinho certainly prepares to park the bus in front of his own goal.
Our verdict: Under 2.5 goals
