Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips for Leicester vs. Newcastle at English Premier League
The Foxes are on their way to the Championship, and with nine rounds to go, they are nine points away from Wolves. Only a sharp improvement in performance can save them, but even that is not certain. As for the Magpies, they are in a very tough battle for the Champions League, with seven teams chasing the two spots (5th will do as well) that lead to the elite European competition.
Leicester
The Foxes are in terrible form right now, and we’ll see if the international break came at the right time for them. And even more importantly, did they manage to pull together and create some sort of chemistry?
Right now, Leicester lost seven straight games, nine of the last 10 and that’s all you need to know about their shape. Only one goal in the previous seven contests is a humiliating record for the former Premier League champions.
Leicester has the second-worst defense and the second-worst attack in the league, with Southampton being the only team with the worst record in these two categories.
Newcastle
The Magpies won their first trophy after more than half of a century, beating Liverpool in the EFL finals. The euphoria is still present in the city and the club, but that has to be controlled because other challenges are coming their way.
Right now, Newcastle is sixth in the EPL standings, having a point fewer than Manchester City, who holds the fifth and the last position, which leads to the Champions League.
Newcastle is one of the best road teams in England. Eddie Howe’s boys won seven of 15 contests, with five losses and three ties. All in all 24 points in 15 road games is solid.
Leicester City: Hermansen; Faes, Coady, Okoli; Justin, Ndidi, Winks, Kristiansen; Buonanotte, El Khannous, Vardy
Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Barnes, Isak, Gordon
Newcastle blew away Leicester in the opening game of the year, which was in mid-December. It was 4-0 for the hosts, who have four wins in the last five contests vs. Foxes, along with one tie.
What is also important is that Leicester didn’t score a goal in the previous 360 minutes against the Magpies.
This will be the hosts’ last push, and they will have to give everything they have to win. Meanwhile, Newcastle is a better team and plays better football, yet we don’t want to risk and bet on their win. Instead, we choose both teams scoring, and that’s despite Leicester’s terrible offensive form before the break.
Our verdict: Both teams to score
